FW: [hercules-390] Interesting project I would like to undertake

Neither VSE/ESA nor Z/VSE can.

DOS/VSE is free; AF, SSX, SP et al are licensed.
Well that's what I'm looking for! A very early version of DOS/VSE that supports ECPS:VSE.

If anyone can manage to locate one, PLEASE CONTACT ME!

Thanks.

Hi Gary, Greetings from Brazil!

As I use to switch among versions of VM and VSE in my Hercules environment, I would appreciate it very much if you could send me (or indicate a location) of the 2.1 version.

Best Regards!

It's worth a try! THANKS!

Where/how can I obtain it? Do you have a download URL somewhere? What format is it in? .AWS tape format?

If you don't have any place where you can upload it to (so that I can then download it from), you can upload it to my SoftDevLabs FTP site. Just plonk it into the "incoming" folder:

* ftp://www.softdevlabs.com
* ftp://www.softdevlabs.com/incoming/

Otherwise, send me your download URL and I'll download it directly from you.

THANKS!!!!

Hi Gary,

I would also very much like a copy of DOS/VSE as well.
DOS/VSE was the first OS I worked on as a system programmer.

Steen Hansen

I would also like a copy. It was my first experience with IBM operating systems. I believe it was also the reason why I was hired as a console operator for a pre-OS/390 MVS system.

DOS was hard to learn. Every IBM system after that seemed easy.

Thanks.

Which we already have.

Also according to Wikipedia:

* (operating_system)

"DOS/VSE was introduced in 1979 as a successor to DOS/VS;
in turn, DOS/VSE was succeeded by VSE/SP version 1 in 1983,

I'm looking for any 1979-1982 version of DOS/VSE, that came *before* VSE/SP (but after DOS/VS).

All versions from VSE/SP forward are copyrighted for-charge versions, which I cannot use.

I need the free uncopyrighted 1979-1982 version of DOS/VSE, that immediately followed DOS/VS, but came *before* VSE/SP, which was version 1. That's the *only* version I can use. That's the only version I am willing to accept.

Essentially the very *first* DOS/VSE ever released.

I've been looking for it for the past 22+ years now, but so far, no luck. :(
