Re: BOS/360 run test
Roberto, I am not sure what you do with your TeraTerm console connection. I just tried it myself and it works perfectly fine. I changed two settings: Enter will send CR+LF, and local echo is

Re: BOS/360 run test
Hi Roberto, Not sure what commands you are looking for. BOS is basically a DOS system without foreground jobs. Jobs are submitted via the card reader, or whatever is declared as SYSIPT. There is some

Re: BOS/360
I hope someone comes up with either a set of instructions for generating a typical disk-based BOS/360 system, or a turnkey system that is ready-to-run, with at least COBOL installed. I don't have any

Re: BOS/360
Hi, According to the documentation BOS should be able to install on disk. It did use overlays so was not entirely memory resident. Looking at tapes, the CONFIG macro only has option for TAPE. The

Re: BOS/360
Guys, Back in those days, Disks were extremely expensive. BOS, (Basic Operating System) was designed to run in an extremely small memory size. It did not use disk or tape. DOS/360 and TOS/360 are

Re: BOS/360
Hi Jay, BOS is kind of like a TOS without foreground jobs. The version that is available does not support disk. Rich -- ==========================================================================

Re: BOS/360
OK, so dumb question: BOS is just TOS without the tape handling code, which in turn is just DOS without the disk handling code, right? wrote:

Hi Roberto, BOS should run just fine on Hercules. There is really no installation for it. Just IPL the tape, and submit the assignment statements for the devices. Supervisor generation should be about

Re: DOS/360: cancelled during install...
The one issue I see is that you can't really automate anything with CMS EXECs, since CMS assumes the A-disk is at 191, and the supplied stuff assumes SPOOL1 is there. I would assume that POWER could

Re: DOS/360: cancelled during install...
Have you run your DOS/360 under VM/370? It should not be very hard. But the one problem I see is handshaking (automatic close of spool print/punch files), probably not implemented on DOS/360. The OS
