Welcome message links not working

.
In the welcome message, which I customized, the links in "You can visit your group, start reading messages and posting them here: /g/OperaRW" and "You can set your subscription settings here: /g/OperaRW/editsub" don't work.
We get the message "This group does not exist." Any suggestions??

Sounds like a typo.? Did you put in a space maybe?

Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual.

I don’t understand. If I click on either of those, I’m taken straight to the group website. Are you saying that those are *not* the same as the links in your welcome message?

You need to remove the trailing double quote. Edit the link, not the text.

No, they are the links that appear in the welcome message.

Sure, but mail clients vary, when you click on what is in the email below some clients will and some won't include the trailing double quote in the URL.

The double quote isn't in the actual welcome message, just in my question text

Right, well when you allow me in to your group, and I receive the welcome message, I will inspect it closely :-)

Just as an aside, you might want to change your cover photo to something more relevant than the default. :-)

OK ... correct me if I am wrong Leah ...
?
You created the group as RWOpera and then changed the name to OperaRW, yes?
?
You changed the welcome message to say (this is just one line of it, of course):
You can visit your group, start reading messages and posting them here:?/g/OperaRW
?
BUT you only changed the visible text, the link is still the original --?/g/RWOpera
?
You have to change the link target as well as the visible text. Ditto with the 'editsub' link further down the welcome message.
?
best, Malcolm.

Me again Leah. In my haste to get that last message off before I went out, I failed to mention that you still have the message prefix for the group set to [RWOpera].

Malcolm, thank you. I suspected the problem resulted from the name change.

I’m, obviously, new to this.

I’ve been able to change the message prefix, but don’t know how to change the link targets. I’ll check with someone better versed than I.

Meanwhile, your help is greatly appreciated.

The easiest way is to delete the link, including the spaces before and after.? The when you type in the new one, everything is changed at once.

Within the editor, place your text cursor somewhere in the link, then click the "Insert/edit link" icon on the menu bar:
?
In the resulting dialog box, edit as needed and save.

What a terrific support group this is! (especially for a novice)

Thanks to Bruce Bowman, Duane and Malcolm Austen, the links and some other stuff are cleared up.
