I apologize if this is not the proper forumfor this .? I notice when someone replies to a post using the Reply to Group link, a new blank email is generated, stripping the original email post. Is there any way around this? ?Having that link is really handy, but not having the original message is really confusing.? Also, the automatic signature block assumes bottom posting for replies. Is there any way that top posting of replies can be made and still use the automatic signature block? Thanks, Bob |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSigs at the bottom has been a complaint of mine for some time, and the reason I no longer use an auto sig for email posts. The signature is incorrectly swept into the ellipses by the top posting algorithm. I don't know whether my request to change/fix this ever made if into Trello. Bob,
I apologize if this is not the proper forumfor this .This group is perfectly appropriate. As would be Group_Help. /g/Group_Help/ I notice when someone replies to a post using the Reply to GroupShort answer: Yes, use the "View/Reply Online" link instead. The problem with the "Reply To Group" link is that it is a mailto: link. Meaning that all of the action happens within your email interface, not under Groups.io's control. I'm not sure it would be feasible to ball the entire message quote up into the mailto: URL, URLs have length limits. Maybe a short snippet. Mailto does allow the URL to supply a text to be put in to the message body, but I wonder how many email interfaces actually implement it. As I recall, some interfaces were rumored not to even respect the subject parameter. A manual work-around would be to copy then message body (or the part you want to quote) before clicking the link, then paste it into the body when that page opens (paste as quote, or format it as a quote, whatever works in your email interface). Also, the automatic signature block assumes bottom posting forIt simply places the signature block at the bottom, regardless of how you composed your reply (top, bottom, or inline). Is there any way that top posting of replies can be made and still<strike>Top-posting in email lists is evil and people who do it must be punished.</strike> *Ahem* This is something that might be feasible for Groups.io to fix for those who reply online (that is, via Groups.io's pages). But as J noted it would be a feature request because it isn't implemented that way now. For replies via your email interface the problem is harder: it would require that the Groups.io message processing code be able to tell where your reply ends and the quote begins. The software does try to do that for other reasons (eliding quotes in digest, hiding them online) but different email interfaces do their quoting in different ways, so there's an on-going challenge to "fix" the detection as novel ways of denoting quoted material are discovered.
