pay for group

I want to pay for the group now. So if I do it for a month then can I continue to do it every month? Which option should I do in case I want to cancel?

Also once I pay for the group how do I add a member back after a member is removed for spam. That is the main reason I am going to pay for it now plus more memory.

I just want to know the procedure of how to add someone back.

Thanks. Is the support still by email or will there be a phone to call?

Anita

Hi,

You can set it up so that it¡¯ll be billed to you as recurring monthly payments.

As for adding back a member, this can be done via direct add (premium and enterprise).

Cheers,

Joseph (who owns one such premium group)

Go to the Upgrade page (the last one in the Admin group) and click the View/Change Plan button. You'll be shown a list of choices with descriptions of each. You can pay by the month with automatic renewal until you cancel, you can pay for just one month with no automatic renewal, or you can take a one-month discount by paying for a year in advance.

Also once I pay for the group how do I add a member back after a member is removed for spam.

You'll have a new Direct Add page in your Admin group.-- it works much like Invite, but the member doesn't have to accept anything. The member will be notified that you added them. Twice if you have a Welcome member notice active in your group settings.

Thanks. Is the support still by email or will there be a phone to call?

Still by email: [email protected] (the same one).

When you upgrade, your credit card will be billed each month (monthly) or year (yearly) until you cancel.
If you just want to try out Premium, I'd go Monthly.
Only Enterprise gets Premium Support but not sure what that means.
However, switching to the Premium plan won't help with the Removed for Spam problem?that you posted about, as far as I know.
When groups.io unsubscribes a member due to a Spam Report, it is because groups.io received a message that said "this person does not want to receive email from this group".? Therefore, the only way groups.io will start sending email for that group to that person again is if that person clicks the link in the notice they got (or perhaps if they send an email to [email protected]) so that groups.io knows that the member actually does want to receive email from the group.? To allow the group owner to resubscribe the member would defeat the purpose of the mechanism (people that really didn't want to get the email could be resubscribed without their permission).??
All of us owner/mods are familiar with the problem and the only resolution is for the member (possibly with your help) to take action as described in the wiki article.
Thanks
Toby

Ellen,

Shal, how much is the monthly fee?? I thought Groups.io was free

Basic groups are free.
But you'll notice that there's no advertising in Groups.io, and no one is tracking your activity here or selling your information to advertisers. The users who choose to upgrade to Premium or Enterprise groups pay the piper, and that keeps the lights on for them, and also for those of us with free groups.

As Duane said, you can see the plans, with a feature comparison chart, on the Pricing page. There's a link to it in the bar at the bottom of every Groups.io page (along with other useful links).

Shal
(So anytime you feel the urge to "give back" a little for all of this free service, buy a month or two of Premium. Or go big with Enterprise. Thank you.)

I'd much rather see a straightforward donation via PayPal link vs donating by paying for a month of Premium/Enterprise that I wouldn't intend to keep. I wouldn't want to see additional P/E menu items for myself as Owner for that month... and if the members were to see any advanced features that subsequently disappeared it could become a real management nuisance.

I suggested such a donation link to Mark when taking his recent survey. It would be trivial to implement.

This is good to know they're additional options at a cost if you wish to use them.? Groups.io is going to be mainly a communication vehicle for members of our congregation. Yahoo Group is no longer effective.

I agree with that too. I have limited funds, but could put together a donation now and again. But I don't want the look of my group to change in any way.
A donation tab would be the perfect answer.

Toby and others. Thanks for your response.
?
I did join as a premium for one month to see how I like it. Then if I do I will pay month to month.
?
I was able to add back the members who got unsubbed. Toby you are wrong by being a premium member I can add them back. I tell them to watch their spam but it can happen and then I can add them back.
?
I can't force them to check their spam every day.
?
I think this is a good plan for me to help the members and not leave.

Implementing the code is trivial.

Complying with the legal requirements to accept donations is fairly
complex. As a for-profit, I doubt that it would be legally possible to
accept donations nation-wide, let alone internationally.

Prices, along with features and functionality for each package can be
found at /static/pricing .

This is where I'd strongly encourage you to talk with a lawyer that
specializes in 501(c)(3) law, as it relates to religious organizations,
even if your church isn't a 501(c)(3) organisation. IOW, even if your
church is an "unincorporated non-profit association", talk to a lawyer
that specialises in church law.

If the church elders can live with the potential legal liability of the
Basic Package, it is gratis.

You can't absolutely compel them, but you can provide "incentive."

If enough people continue to mark messages as spam they can lead an ISP to treat all messages from Groups.io as spam. So it is in your best interest... and certainly the best interest of Groups.io... if a concerted effort is made to educate members to stop marking messages as spam and if they just find them in their spam folder due to being flagged by their ISP, then they should mark those messages as "Not spam."

I would not add back a member who, once educated to why marking messages as spam was not a good survival trait for anyone involved, continued to mark messages as spam. It isn't in the best interest of the community as a whole.

Another thought occurred to me. If we were to start donating by upgrading for a month then Mark's ability to project future income is lessened because he wouldn't know who would be cancelling next month vs continuing for a year or more. A donation tab should at least marginally improve the ability to plan financially.

One can choose the group transfer plan (Premium for one month). It doesn't include an automatic renewal each month so Mark can plan on this being a one-time donation.

A donation tab should at least marginally improve the ability to plan
financially.
?
Another thing it would do, presumably, would be provide flexibility in the donation amount.

Oy veh!

Legal advice followed by a disclaimer of not being a lawyer and it not being legal advice.

Why bother when all it does is spread FUD - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

Outside the realm of politics there are no legal requirements for ACCEPTING donations. The legal requirements applicable to a business like Groups.io involve how they are accounted for once received... and that is, quite frankly, none of our business. All you accomplish with legal opinions followed by a disclaimer saying you aren't a lawyer is to spread FUD - fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Why would it not be legally possible to accept doanations nation-wide? They aren't taxable by the states the donors live in like payments for goods or services rendered are, so state boundaries aren't a consideration. So where's the problem?

Internationally? Who cares what the regulations in Whatchamacallitstan? They apply to the donor, not to the

Good point!

For what I'm getting from Gio I'd be glad to donate more than $10 and it would look a lot more attractive to do that if I didn't have to deal with whatever comes along with a Premium group.
