Mods given editing power in member's signatures?

Hi All,
I thought this had been discussed before but can't find it here or in Beta.?
Does anyone know if it has been suggested for mods being given editing power for member's signatures?? If so what was the verdict??
Our group members all have folders and photo albums whose links need to be in their signatures so our support team can find their info easily.? I cannot tell you how hard it is to explain to some of the computer challenged members how to set up their signatures.? When we give them the links to copy and paste, half the time they are not linkified.? Sometimes the hidden formatting causes crazy signature texts.??

I second that. If you suggest it in beta I'll join you.

I just read the original post and suggest that if you have members who can't figure out how to construct their signatures that you construct their signature and email it to them. This would solve the problem until the suggestion gets implemented.?

I'm thinking that we are asking for so many modifications that they are going to get prioritized and it may take a long time to get to something that is limited in how many people would have a use.

Just a suggestion,

Of course Mark is going to prioritize suggestions. I don¡¯t see how that in any way implies that suggestions made should be limited.

Hi Paul,
We don't allow attachments or photos in our messages or our members would quickly use up ALL the dataspace on the entire internet so there we did? make a very simple email template for doing their signatures . It contains direct links, graphics and arrows.? The problem is they make mistakes (I'm not kidding when I say we sometimes? need to teach them how to copy and paste!).? When things get screwed up it creates layers upon layers of confusion for them.??
And of course, there is the added frustration of the crazy font sizes in the posted signatures caused hidden formatting brought on by copying and pasting from email to groups.io composers.??
It would be a god send to our overworked moderators to be able to just edit the signatures.??
Some people would say if the members are too computer illiterate to follow simple directions then too bad for them.? But it is not just them.? We help members who horses feet are too sore to even stand on.? Every day wasted sending and waiting for instructions to be interpreted and followed, means a horse is in a lot of pain ( often at 7-10 levels on a scale of 1-10).?
J, I will go and suggest this right now in Beta.??
Thanks!??

J,?
It is posted:??
:-)
Sure hope I did it right.?
Now once more into the breach of explaining how to get info uploaded and linked to in signatures.?

J and LeeAnne -
Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to me that I can edit signatures at the bottom of plain text messages. Is this what you're referring to? Plain text messages that still allow attachments seems to eliminate a lot of problems for me.

Also, just a thought about attachments. LeeAnne, I may not be understanding you completely. Perhaps attachments would work for you if you had them set to delete the oldest as the limits approach. You could set the attachments size limit to avoid the accidental monster photo to stretch you apace even more. Just a thought.

One question this brings to mind - If a group is near its size limit and someone posts a file or an image in the Photos area, will that displace an attachment, or do only messages push attachments out?

We are talking about the auto-signature.

Hi Dano,
I'm not talking about editing messages, but the actual message signature that is set up on the subscription page.? That link would take you to where YOU can set up your signature.? So if you signed say with a bad link and were unable to understand how to fix it, I would like to have the ability to go to your signature editor and fix it for you.? Right now that link only takes me to my signature.? Only you can change your signature.??

Even if there were a way to search the photo section for a single member's name or email addy it would be time far too time consuming editing every message a member posts.?

A good point about the auto delete, which I will look into. Thanks for that.??
