Ana,

I just got a message that too members have joined my group, ...
I'm confused.

Do you mean that you received two notices, one for each member? Was the subject line "New subscriber To [group address]" or "Subscription Approval Needed - [member's email]"? Or was it something else?

but I am still waiting for the message to approve them, ...
I'm still confused.

There's no message which you would have received prior to the "Subscription Approval Needed" notice, so I don't know what that first message could have been.

but it takes so long for the message to come, ...
Normally those notices would be sent out promptly, so if you find that they are delayed that must be something going on with your email service. Greylisting is one possibility.

If that is the case, there's not much you can do about it other than to contact your email service and see if they can "whitelist" or otherwise expedite the delivery of notices from Groups.io.

and sometimes I loos them, is there a better way?
Did you see them and then lose them? Or did your email service divert them to your spam folder or otherwise hide them from you?

I'm sorry to be so full of questions, but I'm trying to understand what's happening so that I can give the best advice.

Shal

I guess I will take a stab at this, too.

As Shal noted, no matter what you're doing, you will only receive one email per subscriber.

If you are using the Restricted method of Spam Control, the subscriber will need your approval. If your group is indeed Restricted, the first (and only) email you receive will have "Subscription Approval Needed" in the subject line. Simply reply to that message and the subscriber will be taken off the Pending list and added to the group.

If you are using some other method of Spam Control, you will receive no approval message. All groups.io will send you is a notification, with a subject line of "New Subscriber To [group address]".?

If these emails get lost, that's indeed a problem, but I can't think of anything groups.io can do about it. In particular, there is no way to send an "inquiry email" to groups.io to see if any members are Pending and ask to have subscription notices re-sent to you.

As for a "better way," I believe the best way is to log onto the groups.io web site on a regular basis, visit your group, and deal with any subscriptions on the Pending list from there. Open the Admin menu and click on Members...if there are any people in Pending status, they should show up on the resulting screen.

I hope something in there helps.
?
Regards,
Bruce

Hello Shal, yes it was to the group address, and one has left because I did not get the approval in time, and still have not got it.

Ana -- Is this for your group angelsonges? If so, I just visited your group home page. Among other things, the Group Settings say the following:

  • ?Posts from new users require approval from the moderators.
  • ?Subscriptions to this group do not require approval from the moderators.

Apparently, your group is not using Restricted for Spam Control, but New Users Moderated. So the reason you are not getting any new subscriber approval messages is because you don't have the group set up to require that.

If new people have joined but are not able to post, it's probably because they have not confirmed their email addresses. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/16640?for more information on that.

Hope this helps,
Bruce?

Sometimes it helps to look at the group home page, especially since she invited you to go there.
I happened to notice this in the description of the group on their home page:

Subscriptions to this group do not require approval from the moderators.

To me, that means applying to the group automatically subscribes you.? ?Is that correct?
