How to Effect a Transfer

I have exported my Yahoo Group membership lists and will use that to send invitations to join the groups.io groups. This works for me because all my groups are small.

I see the several ways to use third-party software to download pictures and files. Once downloaded, how can these be uploaded to the groups.io groups?

Bruce,
Unfortunately, you cannot download a list of all 10,000
members...Yahoo won't let you. There are a few other third-party solutions to that, including PG Offline <>, a chrome browser app <>, and ModTools <>.

You'd need to do it manually if you're not paying for a transfer.? It can be time consuming and "ownership" of all the items will be in your name.? If the person that originally uploaded a picture is on the new group, you can manually assign ownership to them (if you know who it was.)? There's currently not a similar function for Files.

Alternately, you could take the route of having the users that uploaded the pictures and files in the first place be responsible for transferring their own files. In other words, share the responsibility. By the way, this is also an excellent way to purge storage space.

Does this mean I must upload each picture to the new groups.io group website one picture at a time or is there a way to upload whole folders?

And, do you mean it is not possible to upload files? PG Offline can download files from Yahoo Groups. Once downloaded, how can those files be uploaded to the new groups.io group? One file at a time or in folders?

Has anyone successfully used PF Offline for this function?

To clarify, I have only small groups with picture and file storage well under the 1 GB free limit. With only about 100 members in each group, I will just send invitations to join the new groups.io group using the membership list I exported from the Yahoo Group.

These are important issues for owners with only small groups. Please try to answer fully as I expect there is wide interest.
