Help! Group downgraded despite plenty in reserve

Hi,
?
I am the owner of a group with over a thousand members.? I set it so members can sponsor and there is $404 in reserve.
?
Despite this, I just got a notice that the group was downgraded because the $220 fee was not paid.
?
I sent multiple emails to [email protected] and have not received any response.
?
When I go into the group the only option seems to be for me to enter a credit card to pay the invoice, which I do not want to do, even temporarily, as it states everywhere that payments are non-refundable.
?
Does anyone know how to pay an invoice from the reserve?

Could you be confusing sponsorships and donations?
?
Sponsorship money is held for groups.io and your hosting fees should automatically be paid from it. You cannot withdraw it and use it for something else.
?
Donor money can be used for whatever you want, but if you want to apply it to hosting fees you'll have to withdraw it and pay manually.
?
Hope this helps,
Bruce

Did it actually say it was downgraded or that it would be?? I've always used Sponsorship and it's always been automatically paid from the reserves on the due date (or maybe the day before).

No, I don't think I'm confused about this.

The money that came from members is for sponsorships.? I do not want donations nor asked for them.

The money shows up as in reserve for paying groups.io fees.? This is not money I can withdraw (if it was I would have simply done this and paid the invoice).

Yet I cannot find a way to trigger the payment of the fees from the reserves.

This happened automatically a year ago but not this year, hence them downgrading the group.

Thus my question to this group as I can't find anything in the documentation that helps me.

Peter

The email to me said it was downgraded, and going in, it definitely has been downgraded (I got two and one week warning emails as well).

The $404 balance also indicates that no money was pulled from the reserves to pay the invoice.

If this is supposed to be automatic, their system is broken.

I did see that there was a failed payment attempt from the previous group owner, who passed away some time ago.? Perhaps that payment method has to be disabled by groups.io?

Peter

In my groups using that option, there is no credit card for that
group. It's only source is the reserve balance. It worked for me on

Obviously something went wrong in their system and it will require them to fix it.

The problem is that they won¡¯t respond to emails. Are they going out of business? If so, are there plans for another company to pick up their operations?

That could very well be. I suggest you and report it as a #bug. If all goes according to pattern, at that point Mark will offer to investigate and ask you for your group name.

They finally responded that the problem was fixed and the group restored.

I don't believe there's any risk of Groups.io going out of business.? Mark reported on last week that he caught Covid and was resting to recover.? Likely just a case of impatience on your part. ;>)
