Download message history
I believe the owner of the group can export the message history. But no one else has that privilege. I guess because you can do whatever you want with that message history. Personally, I like it this way annoying as it is.

But to have IO do it that costs the $110 I think the person is wanting to do it herself I think that might be next to impossible On Sunday, October 20, 2019, 10:15:30 AM CDT, Sarah k Alawami <marrie12@...> wrote: I believe the owner of the group can export the message history. So I have to pay $110 for IO to give me my archives?Hello When you say "my archives", what are you referring to? All your messages are in Messages on your group homepage. You can export it. No fee. /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/exporting-or-downloading-your-group-s-data/exporting-your-group-s-message-archive-and?single=true If it has been awhile since you have checked the Groups.io website, you might find the new official help pages useful. I read the help page on "Exporting your group¡¯s message archive and other group content", but I have a question about opening the compressed zip files. I suppose any zip file extractor would work. What would the message archive?look like after opening the zip file? Would it look like the way we see it on Groups.io? Would it look like the way we would see it in a text editor?
Thanks, Don |

But there's a lot of header information, html and encoded binary, so it's pretty clumsy to navigate. Regards, Bruce Check out the new groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

If you can imagine every message in your group looking like this and chained together into one long document, that's pretty much what an mboxrd file looks like. The email app suppresses the header info (when it is properly formatted as such) and leaves the content. Logically you then copy and paste elsewhere to make use of. You then 'delete' the mbox from your apps 'mailbox list',? while the original 'file' remains firmly stored on your hard drive. Simple really, regards d |
