Are all group members automatically added to updates group?
#addmembers
I've just had a large group transferred and most of it looks really good. I added myself as a test member and found that the new account was already subscribed to 2 groups. The other group was "updates" with 527,000 members and single message delivery.
The last thing in the world I want is for all the group members I'm soon going to be adding to be getting single messages (even just once a week) for a very technical group that they didn't explicitly join. I know one can just unsubscribe, but can this default setting be disabled? I thought I saw a checkbox somewhere, but I am unable to locate it now. Did I imagine it? |
Michael,
Are all group members automatically added to updates group?During a transfer from a Y!Group, yes. "CHANGE: With yahoo group transfers, add a note saying members have been added to the updates group." I think that may have also been somewhere when a person accepts an invitation. Is anyone else receiving weekly emails from the Updates group? I can't recall ever getting one. If I want to view the change log, I have to proactively go to that group page and read it. Bruce |
Having all members as web-only readers is probably fine. But I see

"Single" as the delivery option. If no one ever gets an email, that's fine. If they are interested in updates, they can go and look. I wish the transfer form made it clear that the checkbox applies to ALL future members of that group, not just to the group owner. There is a hashtag option called "No Email." I suspect Mark has that enabled for the #changelog tag in the Updates group. Bruce |
