How to xfer yahoo msgs emailed after Oct 28?
Starting Oct 28, yahoogroups won't save any new content. That means that new files cannot be uploaded, and no new messages archived. We have created a new io group, and will soon pay upgrade to premium. Our plan was to take a week or two, to set up the new empty io group with our custom notices, our own faq, etc. ... and then initiate the procedures for "easy transfer". But what happens to any new messages from our members sent to our list after Oct 28th? I understand they won't be archived inside our yahoogroups site. So how could they be transferred to groups.io? The bottom line is ... for any transfers that happen between Oct 29 and Dec 1st, what happens to any new emails sent to the yahoogroups list during that time before the transfer is finalized?? How can these new emails be transferred if they are not added into our yahoogroups message archive? Would we need to just save them in our regular email inbox, and then find a way to download them into some sort of archive file (I have no idea how)? and then post that into the groups.io? |

no new messages archivedIF that's true (no way to know for sure until the date), then it would be best to disable posting on the YG.? Everyone would need to wait until the transfer is complete, then use the new group.? There's no easy way to do what you want.? You'd need to put the 'missing' messages in a file and upload that - awkward. Once the new group is created, you could do all the steps up to giving the go ahead at any time.? That might save some time down the road. I think only Yahoo would know the answer to that one. One thing that *used* to work back in the good old days was to subscribe one group to another... So when a message was posted to group A, of which group B was a member, the email would go to group B also.? It's an ugly hack and probably won't work with GIO, but might be worth a shot. Or, to be safe... transfer sooner. |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat I did for the short while at changeover was to Auto-Forward the YGroup emails to me,? to
my new Groups.io group.
When the move was complete I put all messages at YGroup on Moderation.? I still get a
message now and then, usually from people who haven't changed their addressbook.
OK, Tony

You can copy and paste the messages from an email to an email form, or to the message board at Groups.io. Both options mean resending them.? I have one group I am moving manually that has about 100 messages are less that I want to move. I have been copying and pasting frpm Yahoo board to my new group's message board.? Only the ones worth seeing again.
You could also try forwarding them, but that also will be reposting a message your group has already seen. Depends on how valuable they are to the group and their value for future reference. Janis |
