file upload problems
Have run into difficulty with my two io accounts.
When I try to upload my compressed file to the file folder it just goes into an endless spinning wheel and then refuses to upload my file.? File size is usually 3,500Kb. I have even removed all of my large compressed files that are in the io file folder and have less that a GByte of data there now.? Was at around 25 GByte THis has been happening now for some time. Any suggestions?? Thanks, in advance.? Assuming replies will come to my personal address. John |
John, When I try to upload my compressed file to the file folder it just goes into an endless spinning wheel and then refuses to upload my file.? File size is usually 3,500Kb. If that K is correct, and your file is about 3.5 Mbyte (or Mbit) that should be fine. I have even removed all of my large compressed files that are in the io file folder and have less that a GByte of data there now.? Was at around 25 GByte If you own the group (or moderate with sufficient permission) visit the group's Ugrade/Billing page to see how your group's total usage compares to the allocation available in your plan. I had a similar problem when trying to upload several files at once and came to the conclusion that it happened if the total size was too great.? My solution was obvious... Peter On 02/07/2019 18:39, John Inkpen wrote:

Think I may have discovered part of the issue.? It seems every time a member posts an email to the group with a file attachment the size of the attachment adds to my allowable storage limit. ?
When I did the Admin - Upgrade - it shows I have 444MByte of storage space used! ? ARRGGHHH!!!! I use this forum for managers of a computer baseball league to sent in Manager files, game report files and the I use it to send out the next play cycle master file.? Didn't realize these attachments remained in the system and counted against the overall storage capacity. This forum started in 2018 and I obviously don't need all of those old emails (and their attachments. ? Is there an easy way to delete an entire group of emails (say a selection from message # to message #? OR from date A to date B??? Think I have my system now set up to follow my quries so I should get your responses in my email inbox (fingers crossed) |
Forgot to add - when I first looked at the problem my actual amount of used space was well under the limit. ?
I then switched from Google Chrome as the web browser to Microsoft Edge.? With Edge it allowed me to upload to the io group with no problems.? So my guess is that somehow a setting in my Chrome account has gotten changed and won't allow me to upload large files. ?????? Not sure if that is the problem but at least I have a solution for the io accounts.? Just a real pain to have two web browsers is use now. |

If you append -test to the URL of your Topics view on the web UI you will find each topic has a checkbox allied with it; this will allow multiple topics to be checked and deleted with fewer individual "clicks". However, this is not fully developed yet and when a number of people actually used it (quite intensively IIRC) Mark disabled it for a while because of server overload or something of the sort. In the meantime - to stop the situation becoming progressively worse I suggest that future posts have a "time - limited hashtag" applied to them. Under Admin go to Hashtags > Create Hashtag; one of the options is Topic Duration; set this as appropriate. With luck One Month will be enough; if it isn't then the next interval is One Year, which seems a bit long. You could always ask Mark (on beta) to see if would provide (say) 3 months as an intermediate step. Chris |

There's also the Out of Space option in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page. That can be set to automatically delete old attachments (but not the message bodies) when your group is at its limit.
