Workaround for approval of new posts?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWe are about to migrate a longstanding group with about 4000
members to groups.io. The group is still growing and there is also
some fluctuation. In our old group every member could post; there
was no approval process. I see that here every members message has
to be approved the first time around. Is there a way around it? I
looked at invitations but there is no way to send them automated.
We use a two-step registration process: First information is
gathered via a form, then you join the group. Maybe there is a way
we could send the invitation at the end of step one and have
people join that way? It would need to be an automated process
though; we do not have enough manpower to do that manually. --

Approval would still be a manual step, though relatively easy since you can do it via email from the notice of their application to join. Another possible option would be available if you get a Premium group.? If you have a programmer among your members, they may be able to use the API to automate some things, possibly all.? I haven't done it, but it looks workable. I assume you are getting this form from the applicant ahead of time. With that information in hand, you can then send the person an invitation to your group (Admin>Invite). Once that invitation is accepted (and the person confirms their email address with groups.io, if needed), he will be able to post immediately without any moderation. However, you still have to manually send the invitation. If you have a Premium group ($110/year), you can Direct Add people to your group. Then the person will be added immediately without having to accept an invitation or be confirmed.? Both the Invite and the Direct Add screens have the ability to upload a plain text file containing a list of email addresses to be invited/added, one per line. But a group Moderator still has to log into your group and upload the file. There is no way to allow someone to join your group and immediately post without any Moderator activity at all. See this recent [and lengthy] thread for more details. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
