Calendar Cancellations Not Sending Updates

#issue
I feel I've suddenly?turned into "That Guy" with all the questions I've been posting. :-{ I've tried checking `Send Invite To Group` and `Send Notice To Group When Event Happens` when processing a cancellation, but no one is receiving anything. |

"cancel event" doesn't have any effectI only found a short reference to the Cancel Event function.? It says that those who sent an RSVP ( only available on paid groups) as a Yes or Maybe should receive an email notification.? I don't see anything about it being removed from the Calendar though.? A suggestion to that effect, as well as notifying everyone or adding a notice to the topic, on the beta group might be appropriate. I looked all over my calendar and couldn't find a "cancel event" button anywhere. A search in beta turned up only this:??.?It seems that cancelling an event only notifies those who have RSVPed.?To actually remove an event, you have to delete it, and may have to provide separate notification via a post to the group.
Before posting to beta, I suggest checking with someone you know had previously RSVPed in the affirmative to see if they received the expected notification. If they did, what you're proposing is properly. If not, it's a bug that should be sent directly to support. Although I do have a Premium group, we do not use the RSVP function. Perhaps others here who do can provide better advice.? Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
We did some testing this morning.? Those that had RSVPed either Yes or Maybe received an email when the event was canceled.? On the Calendar, the event still exists, but was changed to a gray bar (instead of the red that was chosen when creating the event) and says "This event has been canceled." when hovered over and in the event description.

Thanks for the insight Duane.
Definitely a substantial challenge for broad based community utilization and acceptance and one we are struggling with, because folks figure when they've cancelled something, everyone gets notified. Did a quick scan of beta but didn't see anything relative to this, so guess where I'm headed next ;-) -- Kenny Paul, Technical Program?Manager for Pacific Time Zone |
?When I sign up? for a webinar and it is subsequently cancelled, I get notification which is essentially like an RSVP
If I don't sign up and the webinar is cancelled, I'm not informed that it was cancelled except in a very small percentage of the time. Also, if the webinar is cancelled I don't necessarily see a cancelled sign hung out on its' location either. At least, if you cancel a meeting at gio (in a premium group) you get the opportunity to notify your RSVPs AND the meeting grays out with a mouse over showing Cancelled If people aren't interested in a meeting they most likely will not bother to click the Not Attending button and wouldn't care if the meeting disappeared without notice. Unlike Google calendar, which only give delete and no cancel function. Seems to me that's better than most calendar (free or very low cost) systems I've seen in my more than half century in software. -- Bob Bellizzi Founder, Fuchs Friends?? |
The key issue we have is that virtually everyone is subscribed to a Gio calendar are are never using the web interface other than the first time when they subscribe to the cal. There is nothing to differentiate a real meeting from a cancelled one when viewed from a subscribed cal.

Having learned about that, rather than waiting for a poll I have verified this by both forcing updates from a confluence subscription and also from deleting the subscription and re-subscribing via g-cal.
