It seems odd! Are you sure their email address isn't in your members' list in Admin? Did you look at Activity in Admin as well? Here's the help on banning addresses -

You are referring to the Cover Photo and you can update that via Admin > Settings > Cover Photo (button). You can also load an icon for use with the mobile view and Groups.io app. It's described in
