Joan, You can lock the topic - use the little menu from the bottom of the message. Then re-use the topic by creating a new post. Any replies to the new message go to the new message. I just tested it

Don't forget that deleting messages is pointless if you are running out of storage space because messages don't count towards your available total. OK deleting attachments will help, but not the
