Duane its nice there are no fees retained by Groups.io.

Just to be entirely clear on how this works:
-- Groups.io does keep all the sponsorship money. Mark may be spending it right now!
-- The credited amount can only be used for paying future Premium/Enterprise fees.
-- If you own more than one group, sponsorship money cannot be transferred between them.
-- If you close out a group that has sponsorship funds remaining, you don't get any of it back.

It's for these reasons that groups.io waives credit card processing fees for sponsorships (as opposed to?donations,?in which the money is yours to do with as you wish).

I just now visited your group's home page. It looks like FDC is the new name you assigned to the main group.

If so, either address should work and the problem is solely cosmetic.

Yes Ken, specifically that feature. The original owner was thinking about going to a basic group, but I stepped in and began paying the bill; we'll lose to much if we do that. I thought about people paying a portion however I did not want to get involved with sorting out monies from other group members.
I came across this feature while in the help pages. It seems this would be an excellent way to proceed just didn't know if there were any tax liabites, which looks like none. I'll inform the group that the sponsorship is not tax deductible.

As you've discovered, bulk email delivery does not always happen in real time. Groups.io sends out emails promptly but that doesn't mean destination servers are always ready to receive and deliver them...depending on the recipient's provider that process could take several hours.

If you are talking about the sponsorship feature of a group, think of it
this way. When you turn that on, it lets others pay for the group plan fees.
Same as if you were paying. You are not part of the loop. It is only letting
others help to pre-pay for the group. It is a one-way payment method it goes
to Groups.io and stays there until used for the fees.

On one group I manage I enabled it (it's on the settings page) and posted
for people to consider it, just visit the home page of the group. Well,
within a couple of days we had enough collected that I turned off the button
and it will be a couple of years before I need to turn it on again.

It turns out that some people received it and some didn't (we only have a handful signed up so far), so I don't think the issue is necessarily with Groups.io.???

I just set up a group today for a local astronomy club.? The default setting for new members is to require their first post to be moderated.? We had a member post, I approved it but it was never emailed to the members (or at least it hasn't yet and it's been about 1/2 hour since I approved it).??? It is listed under "Messages" but it was not emailed.??? What am I missing?? Are? posts that require approval not sent out to the list when they are approved?

I haven't found one.? You're never in charge of the money, it's strictly a credit toward the fees for the site.? The upside is that Groups.io doesn't deduct the processing fees for the payments, so your group benefits the full amount.? An additional benefit is that any member can sponsor more than once, say annually, where with a donation they could only donate once until you create a new donation request (and the processing fees would be deducted and you'd have to deal with the bookkeeping.

I should mention that it's probably not deductible unless you run a group for an established type of exempt organization such as a 501(C)(3), but each person that sponsors would have to contact their tax person to be sure.

BTW, no lawyer needed. Just simple contractors invoices and a tax person.

Hi Rob, I race a,stock car and need sponsorship to help with operating cost. It's pretty simple.? It's non profit so your tax guy/lady will know how to write off the expenses. Just keep record of time and expenses and ofcourse invoices you give to your sponsors. It would be nice if sponsorship eould cover a phone holiness of some sort because getting help in help groups has Been very difficult. Thanks

Hi, I have become the lead moderator/ owner of our group. This came about when the original owner had health and computer problems. I have talk to a few people about the sponsorship feature and they agree that I should not bear the burden of funding the group along; we are a premium group of Lionel train/track hobbyist.?

There is no Active checkbox for member notices of type Group Guidelines. You can only have one, so it is...by default...active.

Yes, yes and yes.

The exact example is for our monthly meetings, which we originally taged as #Monthly #Meeting. It would be far simpler for the members to understand if the hashtag was #MonthlyMeeting instead.

Click on Hashtags on the left-side menu bar. Click "edit tag" on the #Monthly hashtag and change it to #MonthlyMeeting. Depending on usage you can then delete the #Meeting hashtag.

I would like to change the hashtags from #Monthly Meeting to #MonthlyMeeting, or at least add #MonthlyMeeting to the existing topics and messages.

Editing the hashtag should serve to change the hashtag on all affected topics.

I've searched the owner's manual and searching this forum and have not found a solution. I know I can edit the name of the hashtag, but this does not change the hashtags used in the message subject.?

If the remaining subject line is misleading (e.g.: if the?entire subject line?was #Monthly #Meeting) you will have to edit that separately in Topic Properties (button at the top of each topic). This cannot be done en masse.
