If they're already on other groups, thus having an account, it's not sent.? I believe that it being sent when someone applies to a restricted subgroup is a bug and I'll report it on the beta group shortly. If those applying for membership in your group are already members of other groups and/or subgroups, they won't receive the address confirmation.? In fact, you can create an account without joining any groups and can reply to the confirmation email then.? (Except for this situation with subgroups, which should be fixed soon.) Re: io.groups guidelines
Thank you, however, I am not a member of the group in question. I sent a message yesterday upon suggestions from other GMF reps. So I am not sure how this will work. But something has to be done with this other group. Kindly and with appreciation. Brenda Sindorf ![]()

Re: Pending Subscription notice not being sent out for a subgruop with restricted membership
Thank you, Duane, for that good information. I've been running our restricted membership list for 4 years and was completely unaware of that initial "Thank you for your interest in Groups.io and the group..." email. This does explain why some new members have told me that they'd already responded to an email about joining the list, even though I hadn't seen any response from them.
IMHO it is not a good process to force a new member to respond twice to join a restricted membership list.? |

Seems a bit convoluted to me, but it does work. Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |
Pending Subscription notice not being sent out for a subgruop with restricted membership
I've been running our list on Groups.io for 4 years. We have a main list with restricted membership and a few subgroups that are open to anyone in the main list.?
Additionally, the pending subscriptions are not listed under Members with the Pending Approval filter.? Jesse Nahan ? ? |

io.groups guidelines
Hello~ Does io.groups have guidelines on how a group uses a site. I ask because there is an io.groups email site in my 55+ community that is being used to bully, intimate residents as well as constant threats to sue certain people. In addition, racist remarks and derogatory names are used. Just thought I would ask. Thank you. Brenda Sindorf ![]() |

Hi Duane,
Yes, that is what we have landed on that she must have gotten ahold of some member emails and is writing directly to them.?? I can't think of any other way.? And she is continuing to send more emails now that she feels emboldened to be able to reach our members |

Thank you so much for trying to help me problem solve this Frances!? I am checking to see if the other moderator approved it but would be unlikely.? Also, there is nothing in the activity section to say that happened.

Re: Just received a surprising email from a non member but it went to all members??
Stranger yet: You can stop any nonmember from sending a message to the group -
Look at Admin, Settings - Message Policies and untick this: Allow Nonmembers to Post
Messages from nonmembers will be moderated instead of rejected. (This is already unticked.) |
