Losmandy G11 -2 and NINA
A great podcast?covering this very topic (amongst other things). -- Thanks and Best Regards Neil On Tue, Oct 15, 2024 at 10:07?AM Trevor via <t.warner=[email protected]> wrote:

Trevor, I found the following Gemini settings work: Eastern Limit:? 110 Western Limit 100 Western GoTo 10 I didn't watch the video that Neil Allison referenced but somewhere I read that Gemini will ignore any flip command unless the command occurs within the window established by the east/west limits.? Ergo, my settings.? This has worked well, with flip always occurring after the telescope crossing the meridian?and the current exposure completes. East and West limits depend on each individual set up. Limits that work for one person might not work for somebody else. -- Thanks and Best Regards Neil On Wed, Oct 16, 2024 at 7:19?AM Paul Buckley via <paulbuckley14059=[email protected]> wrote:

100% correct!? Every mount and telescope / rig configuration is different and using other people's limits cannot work reliably.? It is very easy to set your individual mount limits using the Menu>Mount>Limits>Set Limit Here option? button.?
?
The Losmandy Gemini 2? mounts are very flexible and they come in many different configurations, nearly as many as there are telescopes and imaging rigs. OK maybe not that many, even so everyone needs to set their own lits to ensure proper operation.?

Thanks, but you're still missing one important piece of information -- the Gemini firmware level. Can you go to Menu->HC->Info screen on the Gemini hand controller and take a photo and post it here? Or just copy the information and post it here.?

Hi Trevor,
?
This being 2024 and the current production release of the Gemini 2 firmware being L6.02 with PIC servo code v3.0 and HC 1.61 you should probably update as? soon as possible.? Many issues were resolved in the current release and there are later versions being developed to fine tune mostly cosmetic issues.? Click on this link to go to the right file location to download the current releases of the Gemini 2 firmware: Gemini 2 production firmware? Get updated then retest.? ?

Hi Trevor,
?
It's not just three files.? You need to download the latest GFU program which will automatically update to the new L6.0x firmware for the Gemini 2 main processor and Hand Controller files.? There is an inexpensive piece of hardware called a PIC Kit programmer that you will also need to update the PIC chip servo controller code.? These are the two (2) controller chips on the main board that have their own programming but cannot be accessed by the GFU program, they are accessed by a hardware interface and are normally programmed at the factory during assembly.? Well the big improvement that is L6 took a complete top to bottom look at how Gemini 2 does things and they committed to improving the Gemini 2 to a whole new level including the PIC chip code.? This is a large part of the L6 firmware upgrade secret sauce and how the new L6.0x firmware got the big 4x resolution boost.? Trust me as an imager you want the full update.? ? ?
?
Go to Amazon and order this.? There are directions in the Gemin 2 users group that will explain step by step how to do ALL of this. It's easy, many people with no experience have done it no problem.? Let us know if you have any questions or need any other help.?

Some additional links for you.?

Here is the ??

Here are the files you need if you have an Ethernet connection to the Gemini 2 and know how to transfer them directly to the Gemini 2 mSD card Gemini L6.02 files?
?
Here is how to use the , it's old but is still correct.?
?
Here are some written How To directions on updating the servo PIC chips.? ?
?
And here is the quick start guide from the L6 BETA, it is still good to read as nothing has really changed other than the versions of the files used.

Hi Trevor, thanks, that's what I wanted to find out. Initial L6 release did have some issues with Southern hemisphere that were fixed in L6.02. Since you're on L5 still, these are not relevant at this point.
?
There is another thread here that might help, even though it's? about Gemini-1 and L4. You're actually posting in the group mostly dedicated to Gemini-1 / L4. Gemini-II user group is where you can find more folks with the same version of Gemini that you're using, and possibly using NINA in the Southern hemisphere :) Maybe worth a search and asking your question in that group, also.
