Gemini/G11 Motor Still Stalls

wrhollen

I have adjusted the Gemini/G11 "slew" and "go to " rates from 1200 to
800 and I am still experiencing stalls in RA. The Tak FS102 is well
balanced and I have tried various clutch tightness settings. I have
had this problem since I bought the mount and I am starting to suspect
that the motors just are not up to to task.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you,

On my new gm8/gemini I had all kinds of problems, including stalls, because
the cables were faulty. Even slight movement would make them loose
connectivity.

After I fixed the cables all problems disappeared. I havent had any stalls
since, even on 1200.

It's really silly buying a few thousand $ worth of mount, and have a
$0.5 cable mess things up :) Must be costing everyone a lot of money
and annoyance. I'd bet some people would just send the whole thing back
and say 'it's broken'.

I'm having the same problem on my 1 week old G-11/Gemini, but only
occasionally. The GoTo and slewing speeds are set at 800. It won't
slew any higher than ~800 without stalling every time. I've heard of
some people running much higher with this mount. I have the
flat cables. I have never seen such cables attached to a motor load.
Are there replacements of higher quality out there?

Attached is my concern about stalls. A number of people have also written
about problems with frequent stalls. What is Scott Losmandy going to do
about this problem?

Renee, since you are the only Losmandy associate that seems to follow this
group who report Geminin problems - can you use your good offices to get an
answer for us please? Happy new year.

Thanks,

Wayne Hollenbeck

Actually, this group was not set up for Losmandy devices, but for the Gemini software for PC and PDA. There is another group, Losmandy_Users, that deals specifically with problems with the mounts and peripheral devices built and distributed by Scott Losmandy. Please post problems like the one above to this group. However, I guess that Scott knows about your problem since he's also subscribed to the list.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply. I completely agree with your comments about
the motor stall issues many of us are having. It is not a Gemini
problem. I've had no problems with the Gemini software thus far, but
will refer to this site if I do. I appreciate your prompt
professional inputs to this site regarding Gemini issues and hope
that I can get equal support from Losmandy.
