Re: Bought micro router. Have two questions.

开云体育Afaik all GL.Inet routers use the same OS/firmware so they should all operate similarly (I have at least four different models and they all have the same interface) ? Regarding USB-Ethernet adapters, I would generally try to avoid those unless absolutely necessary. Can you just use the Ethernet ports? ? ? ? Thanks ? Brian ? Brian Valente Losmandy Astronomical ? Re: Bought micro router. Have two questions.
Hi Paul,
Do you have a Gemini 1 or a Gemini 2? The Gemini 1 has no Ethernet ports so it is not possible to use it with a router.? ?Never mind. Help me out here, which micro router, the same brand GL.iNet? If it is indeed a GL.iNet mini router is it a Slate or Beryl? These mini routers use the same setup menu layout and are configured the same way as the Mango and depending on the firmware installed the menu screens may be slightly different all that matters is that the information for configuration is filled the same way as for the Mango. The Slate and Beryl routers are much faster but that speed may not be an advantage unless you are using an ASIAIR controller for image and focusing review.?? Re: Bought micro router. Have two questions.
Thank you Brian.
I watched that one, I'll setup the more expensive one similar. I think Astro gadgets has a serial to USB adapter plus cable that might work with the USB connector in the new micro-router, if it detects it as just another IP port, like the others. I have a Windows based tablet. Clear Skies, Paul |

Bought micro router. Have two questions.
Hi Brian and all,
I bought the newer $75 micro router, but I cannot find the video describing its' setup. I only see the one for the Mango router. Could you guide me on this? I have a Celestron Nexstar GPS next to the Losmandy Gemini 2. Is there a way to jury-rig the same capability to it? Clear Skies, Paul |

Hi Michael, As always the best advice!? The way the data has to be entered is routinely entered with American assumption that the notation is USA style. Re: Gemini 1
Hi Gary, The best recommendation is to avoid daylight savings time issues by: Set your timezone offset to zero! As if you lived at Grennwich UK. Set your date and time to UTC, using a web app like? Set your latitude and longitude, knowing that the period symbol is actually a comma (European punctuation, not American, so it's Degrees.Minutes. And in North America, your longitude is negative, so you must use a minus sign on front of the longitude when you are west of the prime meridian.? Then, do a Cold Start in your Gemini-1 to erase all "model" data that may be corrupted.?? And when you input your new model data, put in 3 points West of the meridian and 3 points East of the meridian.? I recommend you don't use more than about 5 per side of meridian.?? If you use Gemini.net, you can examine the Model parameter values and see if any of them are high (...they will start with a few high values then should get lower).? This can tell you if your Model is messed up. Try those ideas and let us know if your problem is solved. If not solved, you may have a bad battery (should be over 3.0 volts) or a corrupted Eprom chip...I have replacements.? They sometimes lose the correct data code.?? Losamandy should add Michael to the payroll.? Michael actually called
me and walked me through each step of the disassembly, purchasing the right
tools and grease, and back up to running again.? Michael’s help was
invaluable, and as he helped me resolve my issues with both mounts, I will
actually be back out, maybe even this week-end.? Thank you Michael.

Hi all,
?
Quick update....all solved.? ?
I spoke with Luke.
?
His Gemini-1 hand controller was set on Photo mode, and he was pressing
each diamond button ...did not see any movement.? Thats usually half
sidereal rate.? We went over how to switch between Photo and Visual modes,
and how to use the opposite diamond button press to speed up slewing.? That
worked, and his G11 Gemini-1 appears normal.
?
He also has a full Titan mount with Gemini-2.? That is the original
Titan design with straight out motor, but it also has a drive gear on the
gearbox and a drive gear on the worm. He had no movement of the DEC axis but he
could hear the gearbox turning.? We talked through the non-movement of his
DEC axis.? We traced the problems to a loose worm drive gear, which was
just slipping around the Titan worm.? The setscrew had worked loose as they
sometimes do.? After tightening that, the worm was too tight with no lube
left on the worm wheel.? He added grease and re-adjusted his worm position
and I believe his Titan is now back to full service.? I'm sure he will also
redo the RA axis similarly.?
?
Anyways...both mounts had normal service problems...and for the G-1 a
re-learning curve after a long time away from the? hand controller.
?
Stay well, all!

Gemini I with G-11 will not slew but still tracks
开云体育Any Idea what is wrong with a G-11 with Gemini I that will not slew??
I broke the dec drive on my larger mount on Sunday and ended up hooking up my
retired G-11 with Gemini I.? After turning on the mount and the initial
setup the mount would not slew.? I tried a quick goto and again
nothing.? I finally pointed the telescope at the eclipse manually and it
seemed to track fine in lunar mode.? I have no idea what I have
broken.? I did try hooking my gps into a couple of the ports on the Gemni I
in hopes of having easier set-up but always received the message GPS timed
out.? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Recently Acquired G11 with Gemini 1: Can't power up the Gemini

Kevin, this sounds like your cable is bad. Can you use your voltmeter on the Gemini-side of the cable, with the cable unplugged from Gemini to see if there's 12v across either of the 12-18v pins and ground? If not, you'll need a new cable or fix this one. Usually a simple solder joint may have broken at the connector, easy enough to check and solder back. Sometimes the cable gets stressed or bent in a way that tears it in the middle, but that's less likely. If you do get 12v at the Gemini-side of the cable, you'll want to use the voltmeter to check for internal blown fuses/diodes and the power switch, which is a bit more tricky and Brendan or others here can guide you through the steps. |

Re: Gemini-1 run-away RA motor
Encoders can go bad by themselves but usually someone plugged it in wrong putting motor drive to encoder line killing it. ?Easy enough to replace cut the legs log off old body and disc together desolder cut legs but applying snd pull them out. Clean pads refit ensure crucifer didv is fitted at same time? Yes sounds as if encoder PLD IC is Also bad ?check resistors near input pins to 5 V.? Do replace it with a flashed 16CV8 BQL low stdby IC ? the code we have works with these I’m not sure on 18CV8s BQL ICs
