L6 vs PemPro 5
Hello all, I would like to get my guiding <1¡± and have recently upgraded my fw to L6. Is it still necessary to use PemPro to pec train my G11? Or is there a way to now do this with L6? Thanks! Art

PEC keeps turning off 14
I just upgraded Gemini firmware and ASCOM 7 software and the mount keeps turning off PEC while doing imaging session. Sometimes I see PEC checkbox is unchecked from Gemini hand controller screen. I also noticed from PHD log viewer after imaging night. I don't really know if this is really related to the firmware and software update since I don't have old data. I use NINA software to control everything. Is there any log in the Gemini to tell me why it turned off PEC?

Communications Error 7
Hi, I posted this kind of issue for my CG-11 Gemini-2 in the past. Now I've got the similar problem for my another G-11 Gemini-2. Tonight I'm running PEMPro after the latest firmware update. The Gemini-2 is now L6.10 and HC is V1.62, same as CG-11's Gemini-2. I've got several communications errors. The unit is connected to one of Ethernet ports of a 5G Wi-Fi router with Ethernet cable. I put ASCOM and Trouble Shooting Report in Yamada-3 folder under User_Logs_error_files_and_suggestions folder. Is this still related to the Ethernet cable? Thanks in advance, masami

Getting Started, could use a little guidance 10
Hi, I'm just starting to work with a Losmandy Titan mount. I found this group as well as a few other resources online as well. I'd like to identify exactly what I'm working with, and get everything up to date in terms of firmware, etc., before wandering down the rabbit hole of running the mount from a computer using some other software. What I *think* I know is that it's a Losmandy Titan mount running the Gemini II system. I'm pretty sure it was originally added to the telescope sometime around 2005, replaceing a fork mount. I think I have the updated hand controller (mostly because there was an older hand controller sitting nearby when I first was introduced to the telescope. It powers up and I can manually move the telescope using the hand controller. I'm hoping that someone might provide me with a bit of direction as to the proper sequence of steps of getting everything where it needs to be. I'm happy to do the homework, but I could use some guidance from folks who have experience with the mount. Also happy to provide pictures and the like if that is allowed. Thanks and have a great day. Ron

Hit RA Safety limit and couldn't move away from it. 14
I was resetting the worm mesh on my G11 (I¡®d been getting RA stalls) and during testing I hit the RA safety limit. My problem is that I couldn¡¯t use the arrow keys on the HC to move the mount after that. Surely I should be able to move out of the limit? What am I missing? David

Moderated Gemini-II problem 13
I have a brand new G-11 with the Gemini-II received a couple of weeks ago. Due to weather i've only been out three times. I noticed my first night the HC reluctant to accept my pressing of "buttons" on the screen and at one point the system froze and I had to reboot where upon it worked fine. The previous session went fine, no problems. Last night I drove to a nearby dark site and started a quick start. After selecting G-11 and querying GPS (which it did and received location) pushing the "next" button was to no avail. I tried a reboot and that's when things went off the rails. The startup screen with logo would appear and then a very brief message "push screen to re-calibrate" which i tried a few times which initiated seconds counting down to start but then back to the loop of "initializing HC" then "connecting to Gemini"....... and then screen would go dark and back to startup screen. This death loop continued no matter how many times I disconnected all cables and rebooted. Any easy fix for this? Thanks!

AZ8 with Gemini 2 and go-to with servo motors 5
I'm considering purchasing the apparently fairly new AZ8 with Gemini 2 and go-to with servo motors. https://store-losmandy-com.3dcartstores.com/AZ8-Config_p_255.html But I have some questions that hopefully some people here can help me with. First, I'm wondering if after alignment it's possible to manually swing the scope to a different portion of the sky while the power is still on? I'm asking about this because I know with the Rowan AZ100 mount its motors must be turned off in the Rowan app before manually slewing the scope. If the power to the AZ8 motors has to be turned off to manually move the scope, will the time and location settings have to be reset, or will the mount remember its place in the sky when power to the motors is restored? Also, if using my current refractor (Televue NP 101) weighing when configured at the most about 18 pounds (likely less), will I need a counter weight? Finally, if I opt for the dual sided version of the mount, can the saddle on one side be removed and the lightweight system with 5 pound head be user installed in lieu of the saddle? Thanks for any answers and insights in helping me to decide whether to purchase this mount. -- Russ

Problem with GFU 9
I selected 6.1 and asked it to update everything including the HC. HC wasn¡¯t updated. I needed to copy the gemhc.bin for 1.63 to the HCFirmwre directory on the SD car using Filezilla and then reboot to get it to install it. Cheers, David

USB Connection to Gemini 2 Disconnect Issue 7
I have a puzzling workaround regarding a USB connection problem from a PC to Gemini 2 Mini controller. I would like to eliminate the need for the workaround. The problem is that for my ¡°on mount mini pc¡± the USB connection would be briefly made and then disconnect after a second or two. Previously, the connection was made reliably. The following diagnosis and remedies were performed/attempted using the ASCOM driver interface to the Gemini 2 controller: Diagnosis performed: Controller connection to another desktop PC using the same cable, result it works. Controller connection to mount mini PC using alternate working cable, result problem persists continued disconnection after 1-2 sec. Tried each of the 4 USB ports on mount mini PC. Connection to other USB devices (imaging camera, focus control, guider camera) using mount PC work. Confirmed the connection attempt is going to an open com port (scan for other com ports was checked). Tried Ethernet connection to controller from both desktop PC and mount PC, result it connects for both PCs . Remedies attempted: Updated ASCOM driver on both machines, problem persists. Update USB drivers on mount PC, problem persists. Updated firmware on controller, problem persisted Unchecked ¡°Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." from USB with mount pc device manager, problem persists. Used alternate USB cables on mount pc, problem persists. Other: Desktop is: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 v3 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz (2 processors) running Win 10 pro Mini PC is: A GMKtec Mini PC, 16GB DDR4 1TB PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD, Desktop Computer | Intel N100 Windows 11 Pro (3.4GHz) Connection to mount pc via Remote Desktop. Wireless and or Ethernet. I use NINA for imaging, but for the troubleshooting I just used the ASCOM driver interface. A possible difference may be a win update occurred recently on the mini pc, I am not sure if I ever used the setup after the update due to clouds and holidays. Workaround: I became very frustrated, and accidentally opened up a second ASCOM interface to the controller. When I attempted connection on this second interface¡¡¡¡¡¡¡.success! Yes! The Gemini 2 controller connected to the mount mini PC and stayed connected, on any USB port, with any cable. The same connection issue exists when only a single interface is open. I have manually verified the settings on each ASCOM interface are the same. Thoughts anyone?

Replacement Touch Screen 4
Is there a source for replacement touch screens for the G2 HC? 3 year old GM811G screen has been damaged by sun UV exposure over time, such that it is difficult to read. Thanks! Dale

ASCOM error with Nina and Gemini 2 drivers (workaround)
I was having issues with Nina slewing to the target after plate solving. Giving declination not reachable even though I was less than a half degree from the target. Tried updating drivers, ascom drivers, etc. I was just about to give up when I decided in the framing wizard to hit obtain coordinates from mount. And everything started working. Unfortunately I got a new refractor, which brought clouds as soon as I figured out the solution!

Response difference between L6.10 and L6.01 6
Hi, I have two Gemini-2 units. One for my CG-11 (OPW+SLW upgraded) and G-11 (OPW only). For CG-11's Gemini-2, I've noticed that the response time when I select "Configure PEC" on virtual HC is very slow, "Configure PEC" window appears after more than 10 seconds have passed. Also after I select "Set PEC Period", again its confirmation window appears after 15 seconds or so, following "Not Responding" message in the title bar. I've carried out the same test for G-11's Gemini-2. When I press "Configure PEC", almost immediately "Configure PEC" window appears. There is no time lag. I used the same ASCOM Gemini Telescope driver 1.1.28.0. But the FW versions are different. For CG-11: Gemini unit ver. 6.10, HC ver. 1.63 For G-11: Gemini unit ver. 6.01, HC ver. 1.60 I put Gemini Troubleshooting Reporter logs in Yamada-2 folder in User_Logs_error_files_and_suggestions. Thanks in advance, masami

Gemini-2 partially locked-up!? 6
During my guiding session, suddenly PHD2 reported that the mount was not connected on the remote desktop screen. Indeed the virtual HC's connect button showed "connect." So I went to the roof and checked the status of the mount. The unit was powered on and HC's menus were responsive, but the mount failed to move when I pressed the button. After powering the unit again, it returned normal so far. I remember this is the second time. When I encountered this kind of issue for the first time, the unit was totally locked up, any button on the HC screen was unresponsive, if I recall correctly. I don't know if there is any clue in the log, but I put the ASCOM log file in User_Logs_error_files_and_suggestions folder of Files. I'm afraid my Gemini-2 becoming faulty. Thanks in advance, masami

Losmandy with ASI Air or Stellarmate pro will they work? 21
I just posted this on CN just so I could get as much info as I could. The other alternative is IF they make a central power distribution block. However I would like to eliminate the mini router and GPS would be nice. Bringing up an old thread here... Been working a lot lately and found my way to Carlsbad NM for work. Haven't posted here in a while either...... I'm planning on taking my Losmandy G11 with me and have been seriously considering converting from an Intel NUC to ASI air or Sstellarmate Pro. I finally pulled the trigger on an ASI2600 and will be using a large battery bank for power. One of my concerns with the current setup with adding the 2600, is the power connections (losmandy/nuc/2600/router). I would have to be creative with the various power supply distribution. Next is that if I have an issue with the NUC, I have no monitor per-se. Right now, I remote desktop in on my local network. I also need a mini router for bridging the gap. It is my understanding that ASI and stellarmate creates its own WIFI, eliminating the need for a mini router? Is this correct? I like the power distribution both offer and is one of the most important factors. Finally since this is an older thread, I will ask again. Will both of these work with the Gemini 2 V6?

Hand Controller (HC) Won't Respond to Touch 8
I have a G-11/Gemini II that has not been used for a number of years. I recently decided to return it to active service given some new observing interests, and I found out that the HC won't respond to my touch. It wouldn't even respond when the calibration screen came up. I'm aware I only have about a second or so to touch it, so I touched right away, but the calibration routine didn't start. When the screen finally reached the menus, even those wouldn't respond. I tried this a number of times with the same result, even when using a ballpoint pen with the tip retracted (my favorite way of using it when it was really cold). I tried the procedure for releasing the top of the HC case from the bottom to see if maybe the gasket was pressing down too tight, but I was unable to complete it. I had no problems getting the sides to release from the glass, but the bottom won't release. So, I can't completely release the top of the HC case. I've tried this several times, and decided to stop to avoid breaking the glass. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? While trying to fix this, I found out that the membrane buttons on the back worked since the mount started turning when I pushed them. So, I'm hoping that this HC can be fixed even though it is about 14 years old. Thanks, Ken

Is it possible to connect the Gemini II directly to a PC if the Gemini is not connected to the DEC/RA motors? 22
I am having problems getting the Gemini connect to my network through a (modern and very capable) PC via the "direct method", despite following the steps carefully. For convenience the Gemini is not on the mount, or attached to the motors. It makes a rhythmic clicking sound when powered up under these conditions, although all handset functions related to network settings are working normally. So I am wondering if the clicking is a sign of some unknown error condition because the motors are not sensed, ultimately interfering with connecting to the network. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Gemini notification on Windows stopped working. 5
In the process of fixing my ethernet connection ( a long story ) I toggled off and back on the Show Notifications and Show Status Panel property on the Gemini driver. Ever since then I have been unable to see any Gemini notification such as Mount Connected or Mount Disconnected. I have already tried reinstalling the Gemini Driver to no effect. Is there anyone out there who has a clue about how to restore this functionality? Mike Bechtel Sent from Outlook

RA and DEC servo motors on Titan mount 5
Our club scope is mounted on a Losmandy Titan mount. I noticed that our Dec servo motor has no identifying numbers on it, but our RA servo motor has Losmandy SVM-HT marked on it. I know that the RA servo motor has been replaced not too long ago, but not sure about the DEC servo motor. The Dec motor MAY be original to the mount when it was purchased in 2012. If I'm reading the RA motor correctly, this is a High Torque motor. Would the Dec motor be the same, or is there no way to tell without any identifying numbers on the Dec motor? Should we change the Dec motor to an SVM-HT so they both are the same? TIA for the guidance.
