I plan on doing maintenance to my G-11. Replace clutch pads, remove DSCH, and regrease. My question is will Gemini lose my settings for Model, Limits, and custom home position? When I put the mount back together, I can easily put the mount in CWD position.?

Why do you want to remove the DSCH?? I'm assuming these are the glass sensor version not the geared version.? Are they still working or are they damaged? Do you not use digital setting circles setting circles any more???

I use the Astro Devices encoders and Nexus DSC on my GM8s and GM8G mounts.? The DSCs work very.well in PUSH-TO mode with Sky Safari 7 Pro.??

As long as the Gemini is in good working condition and battery is still good the Gemini will retain your settings. If you don't know when the battery was last changed it is probably best to get a fresh battery and replace it while the mount is disassembled.?

The best way to replace the battery is to do it before the battery is marginal and starts to cause the Gemini to behave erratically.? To swap batteries check to see what battery is actually installed.im the Gemini.? Depending on the version Gemini they can have different batteries and sometimes the battery holders are replaced with a battery holder for a higher capacity type battery.? I just had my Gemini 2 repaired and a new battery holder installed so I could use the higher capacity battery as used in my later Gemini controllers..?

Once you have the correct matching battery remove the Gemini's face plate and disconnect all cords from the Gemini unit except for the power cord.? Power up the Gemini, replace the battery and power down.? Plug in the hand controller and power up to confirm normal operation, once the boot up completes use the HC to check the settings are as you left them.? Power down, remove all cords and install.the face plate.??

Chip Louie, my Gemini retro-kit is only 1 1/2 months old, so the battery is good. I should have removed the DSCH kit when I installed the Gemini, but was lazy and wanted to use Gem right away. BTW, mine are geared. I have been using the DSCH/Sky Commander on my GM-8 for years and still do. But it is time to remove them from the G11 and sell them.?

Do what the Russians do, trust but verify.? But if the Gemini is working well do what the mafiosos say and forget about it.?
