Error Correction Model
Jim Benet
¸é±ð²Ô¨¦,
In the error model, is it possible to separate the error correction terms associated with pointing position from the error correction terms associated with the telescope and mount? When I do a new alignment model, my location and pointing position have changed, but my scope and mount have not changed. So why not start with some of the error correction terms that are already known, that is, those associated with the scope and the mount? Jim Benet |
Good question. I suspect not because even if the mount and scope haven't changed, you likely have dismounted the scope and dis-assembled the mount to move it to the remote location so there likely will still be minute, but important, changes in the mechanical alignments that would change the pointing model significantly. I always image remotely and assemble the mount with various scopes and even if using the same scope and remote location as last month, there still is significant changes to the new model compared to the previous. I use the Gemini Model Saver utility so I have a record of all the previous models going back over a year and each one is different enough so that I always choose a Cold Start to build a new model each time I use the mount.
