Re: Is it possible to connect the Gemini II directly to a PC if the Gemini is not connected to the DEC/RA motors?
Don, As others have commented, the motors are not required for the Ethernet connection to work. The ticking sound is because the motors are not connected, but that doesn't affect ethernet

Re: Is it possible to connect the Gemini II directly to a PC if the Gemini is not connected to the DEC/RA motors?
Hi Don I have connected both with Ethernet and USB many times for diagnostic purposes. As I recall, it was a bit tricky getting the address correct. I have connected with both a "capable" PC running

Re: Is it possible to connect the Gemini II directly to a PC if the Gemini is not connected to the DEC/RA motors?
Hi Don, I have never used ethernet but I see no reason for it to be a problem connecting the mount with the motors disconnected. I¡¯ve done it with USB. To prevent the constant beeping I would

Is it possible to connect the Gemini II directly to a PC if the Gemini is not connected to the DEC/RA motors?
I am having problems getting the Gemini connect to my network through a (modern and very capable) PC via the "direct method", despite following the steps carefully. For convenience the Gemini is not

Re: Gemini 2 Hits Western Limit Early
Yup.? Set the mount to CWD and power up.? Once the Gemini is up Park the mount at CDW then go to the Gemini UI and look at the physical position numbers, take a photo of the position data.? Do this

Re: Gemini 2 Hits Western Limit Early
The Gemini-2 WEB Server Application through Ethernet allows display of the current mount encoder position and the encoder positions of the limits.? If possible, it would be interesting to know these,

Re: Gemini 2 Hits Western Limit Early
I've had the exact same problem, both in the version 5 and also after updating to version 6. It does seem to be random. I can back it out of its assumed limit with the hand controller. After which I

Re: Losmandy with ASI Air or Stellarmate pro will they work?
Hmm, it's not actually the focal length that the ASIAIR app doesn't like.? It's the smaller FOV of images from longer focal length telescopes produce that is the limitation.? So using a larger

Re: Gemini notification on Windows stopped working.
I just wanted to update my post earlier. I found that toggling the notifications property turned the notifications OFF, but did not turn them back ON. To Turn it back on I had to go to Notification

AFAIK there is no meaningful way to mechanically measure and set the worm backlash of the current Losmandy spring loaded one piece worm (OPW) bearing carrier.? In fact with a heavy or what is

Re: Gemini notification on Windows stopped working.
Not sure where you are at but the most basic test of an Ethernet connection is to ping the IP address in question.? So I think you are using the ASCOM Gemini.net app so you must be a Wimdoze user.?

Re: Losmandy with ASI Air or Stellarmate pro will they work?
Yes it is a newer spec mount. It's very well balanced. When it arrived, it had the sound bare and unloaded, but to be clear the sound does not change due to angle or load, it remains constant, so does

Re: Losmandy with ASI Air or Stellarmate pro will they work?
I might end up going with Stellarmate. Apparently, ASI AIR does not like long focal lengths when plate solving/polar aligning Next Star C8 (2000mm). I will eventually get a focal reducer. Regardless I

The crazy high current draws were seen on mounts in poor mechanical adjustment.? You are asking for trouble if your spring loaded worms are poorly adjusted and you are not well balanced.? The issue

Re: Losmandy with ASI Air or Stellarmate pro will they work?
The Gemini-2 while just sitting there with tracking on pulls about 0.5-0.7A @ 12.5V.? Typical well adjusted G11G with sprung OPWs will pull 2-3A when slewing with a payload at the default slew
