Re: Mac & Gemini 2 connection

If Mac's automatically do the crossover, then I guess the answer then is elsewhere. Will try with different cable & connectors. Any way to test the ethernet slot on the Gemini itself?

Re: Mac & Gemini 2 connection

Macs do the crossover automatically?

That's the trick. Just make sure your Gemini IP address and Mac static IP address differ only in the last part of the IP address. If Gemini IP address is 192.168.0.111 then assign your Mac a static IP of 192.168.0.112. This page is for Windows configuration, but you can do the same thing with the Mac:

Hi ?,
?
How are you trying to connect Gemini to your Mac? Is it just an ethernet wire from Gemini directly to the Mac ethernet port? Or something else?

Re: ASCOM not connecting to mount

Hello.
I once had a somewhat similar issue and the chooser worked when I selected Gemini Telescope.Net, rather than Gemini Telescope.Net 2.
Good luck!

Greetings all, I am very hopeful I can find some assistance or suggestions with getting ASCOM and PHD2 connected to my G11 mount.
?
I have Gemini 2 L5 2.1 and I'm connecting through USB on a Windows 11 computer. I downloaded and installed ASCOM platform 7.0.2 (current version) followed by Gemini.NET drivers v1.1.28 (also current)
?
When I run the Gemini.NET plugin I am able to connect with the mount just fine, but when I try ASCOM Device Hub or PHD2 they can't connect.
?
In ASCOM Device Hub, when I click on "Connect Telescope" it gives me a message saying "Telescope Connection Error: Unable to create the telescope object. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
?
When I go to Tools > Setup > Telescope Setup, click "choose" under Telescope Device, and try to open the properties for Gemini Telescope .Net 2 I get this error:
<Screenshot 2025-01-04 173155.png>
?
Anybody encounter similar issue or have any hints on what could resolve it? I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Re: ASCOM not connecting to mount

Hi Paul,

Thank you so much, I probably have a red hand-print on my forehead now from how hard I just slapped it. I had assumed one was for Gemini 1 and the other for Gemini 2.

Cheers,
Glen

Hi ?,

Use ASCOM.GeminiTelescope.Telescope (not 2) to connect. The 2nd one is for when you have two Gemini, and the first one is already setup and connected.

I want to extend my many thanks to the Gemini development team.? Your hard work and dedication over the many, many years has kept the Gemini system up to date.? I use a 2001 MI-250 (bought used in 2006) that used the very first version of Gemini (I now use G2 L6.1). I think back to those early days and compare to where we are now and WOW!? Keeping Gemini updated over the many years has allowed me to keep the old MI-250 chugging along even today.

Happy New Year Rene & Brendan,
?
We had a solid year of interesting, fascinating and sometimes challenging events and changes.? The whole time you all (you know who they are) were there to help all of us through the year with our passion (obsession? mental illness?) for astronomy and all of her rabbit holes which this group tends to follow to the end.
?
And thank goodness the L6 dev team followed them to the end!? The results speak for themselves, we have always had a good controller in the Gemini-2 but we now have an amazing up to date controller which IME is second to none.? I have been even busier preaching the Losmandy mount gospel and the updated Gemini-2 code makes it so much easier to demonstrate.? It's okay if it sounds a little cult like, that's a good thing due to our shared passion for these mounts because of the Gemini-2 and what they contribute to our hobby.??
?
Anyway rather then continue to wander as I do I'll just say I wish you all another fine and interesting year together.??
?
Cheers/Chip

Re: Dec Heavy Duty Tr Error after updating firmware

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Slight technical correction, the change in the PIC code for 3.1 was the PWM ¡°level¡± that was allowed.? Prior to 3.1 that level was set to 1000 (43%).??? Version 3.1 increased that PWM value to 2000 (86%).

The value for 100% PWM is 2300.

?

That allowed a much higher value of torque in a potential stall condition and resolved the problem that a certain (very) sarcastic Ozzie reported.

Subject: Re: [Gemini-II_io] Dec Heavy Duty Tr Error after updating firmware

?

Domenic?Lvl6 was released as a package that implicitly stated that the dspic33 servo controllers needed firmware upgrade as part of lvl6.? This is due to lvl 6 integrating upgrade in the servo firmware and using them for operation.

?

All that said lvl6.0 ver included lvl3.0 dspic33 firmware all working together to improve Ra/DEC motor stall detection methodology to also assist worm mesh and balancing.?? But there were some "heavy duty Tr" and "Ra Stall" complaints (that motor wasn't generating as much power before "stall" was detected", compared to Lvl5). ? So and that was relaxed with Lvl6 ver 3.1 dspic33? firmware which was released very soon after.

?

Basically this allowed greater encoder step count differences before indicating "Ra stall".?? This issue in ver 3.0 dspic33 firmware effected only a few users not all but it is recommended all users update to ver 3.01 dspic33 firmware in both Ra and DEC.

?

If you are in Australia.....I can easily update your system to latest Lvl 6, HC and dspic33 firmware to latest level lvl 3.1 (have done many units including my own).? But of course prior to and after need to ensure all Gemini systems functions are operating properly: Ra rate; ST4; Serial; USB; LAN; HC; ASCOM etc?? Its easy for me I have all the test equipment and a number of programmers (I'm in Melbourne).

?

cheers
