Re: Serial connection to G2

I’ve noticed 9600bps laggy with Gemini ASCOM. I use 57,600bps on BT and it’s much more snappier. ? I get GEMINI settings pop up in ASCOM almost immediately.?

At 9600 I’ve seen it take quite a few seconds to load Gemini data and is fully displayed.?

Spontaneous reboot of L6 Gemini 2

I recently had my Gemini 2 upgraded to L6 by Losmandy.
Set it up yesterday. Had the scope parked but on for an hour or two. Walked away from it. When I came back, the hand controller was in a boot loop. I powered the mount off and on. It booted fine and stayed on.?
unfortunately my usb hub died, so I shut everything down for the night after the unit was running 40 minutes.
Today, I powered up and connected to Nina. While I was working on the computer, Nina said it couldn’t communicate with the Gemini. The driver had disconnected. Hit the button and it connected.
?I’m using a mini pc and using a usb cable from mount to pc. No hub. I did update the ascom driver.
Anyone see stability issues with L6 or the new Gemini. Net drivers?

Re: Beta-test of new HC firmware v1.62

I've decided for the HC reboot mechanism intentionally, it is the best method to reset all these internals of the ARM processor to a well defined state, of course after trying every other possible error handling I'm aware of. Please don't call it a bug, it is not really a feature I really like, but the least of the evils ;)

A missing LAN connection delays the startup, I could add a LAN deactivation checkbox to avoid this, but I consider the HC reboot to be the better solution, just in case. It may take even more time if DHCP usage is enabled, especially with a long waiting period selected. Checking for a DHCP reply is part of the initialization loop. What are your DHCP settings?

The serial cable G2 to HC is not visible in the video. Could you please describe it? Coiled or flat, length, standard or special serial settings? I'd like to reproduce your findings and fine tune the timeout settings, if possible.

Thanks,

When connected to the LAN in the office it does not behave this way when able to connect to the Ethernet LAN.

There’s a pattern in the behaviour, just before the timeout in each case we see the identical message sequence:

Gemini.net says connected, and then times out and gives up after a couple of attempts.

?

Have goofed this up or?

Yes, I did restart – several times in fact as I’m trying to get serial coms working (but that’s for another thread).

Hi David,

?

Did you restart Gemini after the new HC firmware was uploaded to the HC? I had a similar experience, and it all cleared up after restarting Gemini.

I’ve just applied 6.05 plus 1.63 to my G2 and HC.

I have “allow speeding up” set, so I expected the HC buttons to work like the G1, going from Guide speed to Centre speed to Slew Speed if I hold (e.g.) the right RA button down and press the left button twice.

?

But it doesn’t seem to work like that?? If I have speed set to Guide it will only move up to Centring speed when I press the opposite button. HC is set to “All Speeds” mode

?

Also, the buttons on the rear of the HC don’t seem to do anything sometimes, other times they do?

?

Can anyone cast some light for me?

Re: Beta-test of new HC firmware v1.62

The 6.05 and 1.63c betas seem to work fine using normal hand control operations for visual and with ASIAIR Plus v3.?

I just heard back from GL.iNet tech support and the Slate-AX is not 12v tolerant.? So as expected you need to use a 5v power source.?
