Allow speeding up
开云体育I’ve just applied 6.05 plus 1.63 to my G2 and HC. ? I have “allow speeding up” set, so I expected the HC buttons to work like the G1, going from Guide speed to Centre speed to Slew Speed if I hold (e.g.) the right RA button down and press the left button twice. ? But it doesn’t seem to work like that?? If I have speed set to Guide it will only move up to Centring speed when I press the opposite button. HC is set to “All Speeds” mode ? Also, the buttons on the rear of the HC don’t seem to do anything sometimes, other times they do? ? Can anyone cast some light for me? ? Cheers, David ? |
Re: periodic error training (PemPro config question)
Hi Steve,
?
Brian isn't visiting here very often anymore, so let me attempt to give you an answer.
?
> One, after uploading to the mount and verifying the curves and riding off into the sunset, do we go back into Gemini PEC configuration and set the worm period back to 1x?
?
No, don't change the worm setting. You don't need to do 2x worm cycle recording/programming. You can do 1x worm cycle, as well. 2x takes longer and will only help in the specific case that you have a certain error that can't be fixed by 1x worm cycle PEC. But either way should work.
?
>? Two, on the PemPro site ? (updated 2023) there's no mention of this. Is there a conflict here, is your doc still relevant with this idea, etc.?
?
PemPro has been updated since 2023. Early 2024, a version with some changes and bug fixes was released specifically to address the Gemini PEC programming with L6.02 and above. Just download the latest version of PEMPro available.
?
> And unrelated to those: On the site's document it asks to "go into the "Advanced Setup" page and uncheck "Gemini expects J2000 co-ordinates" because they both need to be on the JNow page--is that also required from your perspective?
?
It's not required, but it is recommended. You don't need J2000 conversion unless you have certain software that only supports that epoch. To program PEC you don't need J2000 precession conversion.

Re: Beta-test of new HC firmware v1.62
Hi Ken,
?
Totally up to you. The beta seems pretty stable, and has bug fixes and enhancements, so should be worth an upgrade. v1.63c of the HC and L6.05 are now available for beta testing.

Re: periodic error training (PemPro config question)
Brian,
(Just took delivery of a GM11T; works great and now refining) On page 2 and 3 of your guide /g/Gemini-II/files/Documentation_and_Manuals/Losmandy%20PEC%20Primer.pdf you state to "set to 2x PEC cycle" and in the viewer and waveform analysis and correction we need to remember the periods are 2x . . . got that, but . . .
Two questions: ?
And unrelated to those: On the site's document it asks to "go into the "Advanced Setup" page and uncheck "Gemini expects J2000 co-ordinates" because they both need to be on the JNow page--is that also required from your perspective?
Thanks for you time; love your valuable advice and presentations. Regards Steve |

I use one of the GL.iNet routers with the USB C connection for DC power from my PegausAstro PowerPocket Advanced. If you can solder, it's pretty easy to take a barrel pigtail and USB C power pigtail (; note the correct polarity) and solder them together using a lineman's splice. Cover up each splice with heat shrink and, voila, you have an adapter cable; otherwise, get butt connectors and splice them that way. I just prefer soldered connections.
