Re: SPEAK2ME
There's a caveat about cutting phenolic - beware. Don't cut it cold, it wIll crack. How I do it is warm it in a low oven, then cut it on a machine shear in one stroke. ----- Original Message ----- From: Michael C <mtcooper01@...> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, 24 May 2020 11:34:40 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: [GEOelectronics] SPEAK2ME Okay thanks.? Since I haven't built any for a while, I have no immediate knowledge of what is available today.? We did notice a few things that can be useful- testing many speaker designs, it was found the larger speakers produced more volume, impedances from 4 to 16 to 45 Ohms all worked, and speakers with larger magnets were louder regardless of the cone diameter. This magnet size was important enough to modify the end of the ENi PCB to allow for the greater speaker depths. The loudest 2" speaker had a magnet almost as wide as the cone. I bought up the entire stock of those and used them in the last few hundred LENi-PRO units,? no more remain ? Additional drilled holes and brass eyelet terminals wire installed there for the X2 Range upgrade. Besides these there was only 1 jumper required to go all the way across the board to complete the battery circuit, and this was done by installing brass eyelet terminals and Teflon insulated silver plated solid wire. The result lest plenty of room for deeper speakers. Volume is also enhanced by the speaker being mounted on the case, and the top buttoned down, sort of a speaker baffle effect. ? In those units with corotron regulators, their failure can cause this as well as operating the HV generator without anything attached to the secondary- usually caused by PCB crack breaking the copper trace. In the ENi, failure or removal from the circuit of the Zener diode on the primary side will cause the HV soaring issue.? ? Re: GEO 210 Probe budget kit
开云体育Up and running.? I ended up putting the resistor at the BNC connector and shrink wrapping the crud out of that end for strain relief purposes. Then I pigtail loop under and around to the LND terminal with other end of wire soldered to the clip.? It’s a tight squeeze.?? This little thing kicks butt ??? ? LENi and HV Meter
hi, thought I'd post here too.. just in case any thoughts.
The geo HV meter works perfect on my Vic 6b, Ludlum 3, Bicron 200.?? So I know the box is good.?? When I put the HV Meter on my LENi, it creates a constant chatter through the speaker and the meter activates - like I am in a very strong radiation field. It's not just a constant buzz.. it's a very consistent chattering and needle movement - like it's being pulsed.?? And, I am having other issues with the LENi with HV, likely related.?? I don't know.? I got the LENi HV up to 860V on any consistent basis but it won't go any higher.? Disconnected the zener module and tried measuring the isolated power supply section..?? if I got a good measurement, it was about 820V.?? while I am working the HV issue - does the HV Meter causing feedback through the audio and meter suggest a problem area?? thanks |
Re: GEO 210 Probe budget kit
yes the probe sits sort of sideways. Do you have a clip to attach the red wire to the round connection on a LND 7311 sensor??? all I got was the red wire, couple of resistors, shrink wrap ...?? as for mechanicals and mounting the lnd7311 in the housing -? the 3 brackets hold it down - have to punch holes through the foam gasket for the screws - that seems intuitive.? The kit included nuts and washers I see no use for ??? Also, the bracket hole at the bottom six o'clock position is right where the LND 7311 stem will be.? I'm guessing twist the probe around a bit and have the LND stem a bit off of six o'clock so that mounting screw/bracket can fit.?? thanks |
