Low audio from external speaker

I was going to try the G-106 at a pota park today but I forgot my headphones and the internal speaker was just to low for me to hear irt well. I was set up close to a road so I had too much road noise. Has anyone tried an external spaker and did it help. Also what speake did you use?
Thank you

Hi Jerry, I have used an external powered speaker (rechargeable battery)? and it works great. I have a Bush Acorn Bluetooth speaker. You might not be able to find this exact model but there are lots available. The only tricky bit is finding one with an AUX input. You will also need to make an adapter for the microphone connecter as this is where you access the headphones/speaker connections. I have tried various methods but I think the best is to use an RJ9 telephone splitter and then make up an RJ9 to 3.5mm jack socket cable see attached photos. You can then plug the microphone and speaker cable into the splitter.
Hope this helps
