Amplifier for g-106

Hello everyone,

New member here. I just picked up a used g-106 off ebay for $125. seems to be working but havent made any contacts yet.

Anyone know of any RF Power Amplifiers that will mate with the g-106 easily? I looked around an some wont match up.

Any suggestions?

You can purchase the Xiegu XPA125B and it works well with the G106, but I doubt that you will want to spend 5 times the cost of your G106 for the amp!? ?A good quality amp costs money unfortunately.? There are some kit amps in the $250-300 range but I have no experience with them.? ?I have a Xiegu XPA125B but I got it to go with my G90.??

p.s.? Remember that not only is the XPA125B an amplifier, it also has a built in automatic wide band? antenna tuner.??

Hello David.
I use this amplifier. It works very well with my G-106:

I use the 50 Watt HF/6m Power Amplifier for Yaesu FT-817, Icom IC-703/705, Elecraft KX3.
Whern i purchased it, the version with bandswitch did not exist.

I build an interface to command the PTT with the G-2106 (See attachment).

Randy, Jo,

Thanks for the great info. Randy, How is the G90? I love how the g-106 is compact. is the g90 small enough to sneak into a small case with battery and such?

Here is a photo of g106 sitting at top a G90. Photo is a little skewed because the G90 has the cooling fan option attached. It's somewhat longer but the width is close and the depth is close.

David.

Yes. I had a DIGIRIG that I used with my TX-500. As I didn't want to invest again in a new interface I just bought the cables. DIGIRIG works very well with my G-106. But I only do very little digital mode (only RTTY).
