Flaxseed meal has very little fat(12-15%) left
after processing,so you will obtain very little omega-3 fatty acids. The fiber
and lignans are intact, so you?are still getting some benefits. I advise
people not to purchase flaxseed meal, only because the omega-3's are missing,
and it can be expensive. Hope this helps.

This still leaves unanswered, the question of "how much" flax
meal would provide substantial cardiovascular and other health benefits for the
average consumer.
If I'm consuming a large amount of om6 in my diet, the
quantity of om3 becomes more important.? If I avoid diets that greatly
predominate in om6 over om3, I needn't consume so much of the om3 rich
foods.

When purchasing flaxseed in the version, 'flaxmeal'
which would be on the package, would not give the omega-3s. It does have
lignans(phytoestrogens) and fiber. Flaxmeal ground by yourself, or preground
flaxseed labeled milled flaxseed or ground flaxseed, is rich in all ingredients.
In my new book, I recommend up to 3 TBSP/day ground flaxseed to obtain all
cardiovascular benefits. If your diet is rich in omega-3s, using olive oil and
canola oil, then the omega-3s from flaxmeal is not so important. Let me know if
this helps. Maybe I am having a problem explaining this question, which is a
good one.
