I can’t speak to the research paper, but this article represents mitochondria as “natural cancer fighting human cell”(s). This basic premise is wrong. Mitochondria are organelles not cells. In cell biology, an organelle is a specialized subunit, usually within a cell, that has a specific function. The name organelle comes from the idea that these structures are parts of cells, as organs are to the body, hence organelle, the suffix -elle being a diminutive.

Mitochondria use?aerobic respiration?to generate most of the?cell's supply of?adenosine triphosphate?(ATP), which is subsequently used throughout the cell as a source of?chemical energy. Cancer cells do not do this. They are capable of digesting glucose directly and excreting lactic acid as a by-product which causes your liver to have to work doubly hard converting the lactic acid back to glucose before it can rebegin the further breakdown of glucose into energy digestible by the mitochondria.
