I think at a certain age some people consider their current life irrelevant and hark, continuously, back to bygone decades in an attempt to seem relevant. Between his software, spiritual and PR "experiences" from three and even four decades ago I would say he could use a refresher. Not only have we heard all this but the news and content could use some updating. Other than his trips to the Dollar store and disdain for Starbucks I am not sure what he does in his day that makes any difference to anyone but himself.

We could discuss the important things like Zatoichi swords and Japanese cabinets.
Yes we could which would be infinitely better than reading about your current hair-brained theories on COVID or latest Dollar store bargain hour.

You missed my point - again. Somehow I feel like we are interacting on an unfair playing field. I miscalculated when I brought out the tiddly winks. I'll get the wooden blocks back - I'll just be a sec.

LOL! You probably don't even know who Harrison Bergeron is.? There is even a TM connection there.

I took a science fiction English course in 8th grade. So, yes I know who Harrison Bergeron is, you twat.

So do you not see an attempt by some political leaders to create a Harrison Bergeron society?

According to The New York Times, a study found that the U.S. media is offering a far more negative picture of Covid-19 than science journals or the international media. Go figure.

Nothing much. We spent two decades working for community colleges and their PR departments. Rita was a video graphic designer and I was in IT for years. YMMV.

Texas, Georgia to open vaccinations to all adults within the next week.

And if you were immune before you got the vaccine?

If you have Hulu watch the movie "Songbird" which was added yesterday.

Apparently you’re the only one that liked it, it got totally trashed on IMDB.

“An absolutely dull and cheap film.”
“Inconsistent, doesn’t make sense.”
“Are they serious?”
“Refund please.” ?(lol)

And with a collective ?rating that doesn’t even break 5, it’s not surprising.?

Considering I didn't pay $20 for (no one thought it was worth that) or even $5 or $1.80 (DVD at Redbox) I waited.? So it wound up as just another movie in my Hulu subscription.? User reviews on IMDB are often all over the place.? I'd give it a couple weeks to so those who got it via subscription might have a better opinion.? It's a fairly decent B-movie thriller.? British director so not as trite as many US productions.

BTW, Barry was the one who recommended it to me. ? ? ? ? ? ?

?Um no he didn’t, at least not on that forum, and I would find it difficult to believe he’s contacting you privately. ?Here’s the only thing he’s said about it:

12/13/20????
Edited?12/13/20

The film is called "Songbird," and it came out this week. These guys didn't like it much. The phrase in quotes in my Subject line is from them. But y'know...I'm probably gonna watch it anyway, because I have a strange attachment for L.A., and for post-apocalyptic movies set there.?

The trailer looks like one of Bhairitu's wet dreams:?? :-)??

Not exactly a ringing endorsement. ?You’re hallucinating again Gramps. Plus, he nailed you.

One can tell within the first five minutes whether something is worth watching or not. Although I will read reviews of both critics and the general public I will watch something if I have a desire to, irrespective of the reviews. About 25% of the time I disagree with critics (professionals) so you just have to think for yourself and watch what intrigues you and turn it off if it falls flat. On the other side, many films that win Oscars and rave reviews I find utterly unwatchable.

Ok, so I watched the trailer. I have to say, this does not appeal to me. Not because the production values are lacking or the acting is lame but because I just don't feel like watching an apocalyptic movie about something that is not going to become apocalyptic in real life and right now I am totally "over" this kind of drama. The last 5 years have been nothing but insanity and drama and I can't see the desirability of watching more sturm und drang on the damn screen. It's just not where I want to place my attention right now. Just like I never watch cop or hospital shows. Just not what life is all about - for me. Violence, hate and ignorance is in abundance off the screen.

Avoid the danger that lies ahead. Nobody is probably immune to the millions of variants spreading all 0ver the planet. You don't know if you've got the COVID until you get tested. Apparently I'm the only informant posting here that got the vaccine, the booster, and then got tested negative. Go figure.

Everyone should get the shot in order in order to attain herd immunity. Otherwise you're going to spend the rest of your life in lockdown, to one degree or another. The higher the vaccine resistance, the longer the lockdown will last. YMMV.

Also the movie is actually a love story about the guy who is the courier trying to arrange for he and his girlfriend to leave Los Angeles for Big Sur.? Scifi fans don't like love stories mixed into their scifi.

The movie was better than I expected.? And I wanted to see if for the subtexts presented.? Was it going to be a message of "you must obey the authorities" or "fear authoritarianism".? Fortunately it was the latter.? And maybe why Hulu which usually promotes new movies does have it listed prominently.

Checking the post Corner posts I mentioned the film back in November.? Barry started a second thread about the film when it was released in December.? Anything that Barry trashes may be worth checking out.
