I don't even have Facebook but some people expect me to read their posts there and of course I get a wall up when I click their post link.? I've had my own blog site for years though not very good at posting.? Never felt a need to be on Facebook. Seemed like a fad to me.? The funny thing is I've had not one but two inquiries from Facebook asking if I might be interested in working for them.

The problem is with a lot of these companies is they hire kids fresh out of college who have only learned theory from professors who have never held a job at a software company.? They are crippled from the word go.? The process used to be to hire a college grad and give them a year to learn the ropes.? Then we also have a lot of comp sci grads who only majored in for the money but are crap programmers.? You need to have a knack for it.? Not surprisingly a lot of the successful programmers were originally professional musicians, artists and writers.? That's because it's really a creative field not a science.? The science is for the tools used.

There was an Amiga developer conference in Atlanta in the early 90s that I attended.? It was held at the Omni and I stayed there.? You could see CNN at the top flood when looking up the courtyard.? There was a shopping area at bottom and they had Headline News setup in a booth? so you could see it being produced.

Thing I remember about that was going to a bake shop there that advertised coffee and asking for an espresso and hearing "sorry sir, we don't serve alcoholic drinks." ?
