Conspiracy theories are killing people

?Actually make that conspiracy theories AND Trump. ?Doctors and nurses deserve a lot better than this utterly irresponsible reprehensible bullshit. ?So he gives them a flyover? ?Big deal. How about doubling their salaries? ?And telling his lunatic followers to back off.

“Several other doctors shared similar experiences, saying that they regularly had to treat patients who had sought care too late because of conspiracy theories spread on social media and that social media companies have to do more to counteract the forces that spread lies for profit.

Dr. Duncan Maru, a physician and epidemiologist in Queens, New York, said he had heard from colleagues that a young patient had come into the emergency room last week with damage to his intestinal tract after having ingested bleach. The incident occurred just days after?that "injection" of disinfectants should be researched as a potential coronavirus treatment.

"Folks delaying seeking care or, taking the most extreme case, somebody drinking bleach as a result of structural factors just underlines the fact that we have not protected the public from disinformation," Maru said.”

Another conspiracy theory that is very popular and is often promoted on this forum is that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the election from Hillary Clinton.
A consciously coordinated disinformation campaign with the media as willing accomplices and its purpose was to overturn an American election via illegal means.

The biggest political conspiracy in modern American history, the attempted rigging of a Presidential election and the attempted overthrow, a coup, of a sitting President. And all of the evidence is starting to point straight towards Barrak Obama.

As long as it is the conspiracy theories believers that die off, I don't mind, but there are well meaning people who get sucked into these too.

A little humour here:?

People are being called conspiracy theorists if they go against the group think.? Nothing wrong with being a non-conformist.? Remember when we used to champion dissidents in foreign countries?

A concise summary report on the Trump-Russia Collusion conspiracy theory:

Almost everything posted to this forum about Russia and Trump collusion was a untrue. Go figure.
Everything the corporate media told you was a lie.
Everything Congressional Democrats told you was a lie.
Everything the Intelligence Community told you was a lie.
Everything I told you about the Russia Hoax turns out to be true. YMMV.

Obama Officials Had No 'Empirical Evidence' of Trump-Russia Collusion, Intel Transcripts Show

People are being called conspiracy theorists if they go against the group think.

They won't.? Yep, the Trump administration paid many more times what was necessary (and who knows how many lives would have been saved) because they wanted to purchase masks from China instead of an American company.? Or, maybe it was because said company once said something that this most thinly skinned, mentally challenged, vengeful administration took personally. They are all victims on multiple steroids.??

This is how conspiracy theorists justify their conspiracies.?

At the rate the infections are rising in the west wing, I am actually waiting to hear all my favorite characters being infected. Sorry, but it's true. Couldn't happen to nicer people from Ivanka to Stephen Miller and beyond. Ivory towers don't ensure health (or sanity) for the occupants. Maybe a taste of this virus could stimulate some semblance of humanity.

I think of conspiracy theorists as those requiring more dramatic explanations for world events. They just can't quite live with some rational or logical explanation for why something is happening or has already happened. They need the unusual, the exotic, the unlikely, the weird to fill some void in their otherwise boring lives. After all, why believe a new virus is a major health concern when you can believe it is a large-scale conspiracy to hoodwink the public while the conspirators sit in some room laughing at and toasting the idiots running around in masks and staying home?
