Anyone here interested in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi or Transcendental Meditation??
David
This group seems to be full of spam now. Is anyone here interested in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi or Transcendental Meditation?? These used to be the topics of this group when it was hosted on Yahoo. Hoping. I'm mainly looking for videos or audio files from teacher training courses, Global World Country of Peace, etc.

开云体育This really isn't a rebirth of Fairfield Life. It's a group that Ravi setup just before Yahoo stopped serving groups.? It may have been that he noticed that Doug probably wouldn't get around to migrating to 开云体育 like other Yahoo Groups and Alex probably wasn't interested in setting it up for him.? I regret I didn't mention to folks on FFL to come here the last month that FFL was active.However most here are ex-TM and not TB'ers.? Oddly enough you'll find more TMO postings over on The Corner though that group indeed is not TB.? There have been some recent postings of videos there. /g/TheCorner On 9/27/21 9:33 AM, David wrote:

TB means "True Believer" or people still affiliated with the organization.? I taught TM back in the 1970s but found it a bit of a dead end and moved on to other things.? 21 years ago I started learning from a tantric who had moved to the US and learned much about teaching different forms of meditation.? His tradition is a fork from Sri Ramakrisha's guru.

@Bhairitu Thanks for the info! I guess you would call me an ex-TMer even though I practice TM regularly since I teach a cheaper, easier to learn, and better-supported alternative to TM called Natural Stress Relief?. |
开云体育Hi David,It’s only full of, um, spam, because one member, Willytex, aka puditster, insists on putting it there and the group leader lets it stand. I’m interested in talking about TM, if only to rehash the good old days before the whole thing went off the rails and just became another cult. Also just voted in your survey (spoiler alert, the answer was “No”. Sal? On Sep 27, 2021, at 11:33 AM, David <m029@...> wrote:

@Sal Sunshine, @Bhairitu,
Thanks for your replies. I'm in between a TB and an Ex-TMer. I believe that TM is a fast way to improve all aspects of life (and I see confirmation in the lives of my 3100 clients), I also see MMY as having done the world a great service in teaching effortless transformation through an easy and simple path using the sense of hearing, and of having been a living example of what he taught (I spent 8.5 months with him on teacher training in 1971-1972, and it was clear to me that he was in at least the 5th state of consciousness). But I also see that setting up an organization that trains teachers of self-realization quickly does not work: it makes the course fee too high and the teachers fail too often. I see the results of some of those failures when their students come to me for better guidance into effortless transcending. I also see more evidence of ineptness when extreme unstressing is denied and hidden (I have fixed several cases of uncontrolled unstressing easily myself, and have found that it occurs in approximately 0.5% of all transcending students). And I also see MMY's errors, such as his raising the course fee to $2,500, his forbidding TM to be taught in England, and his abandoning TM to push for the TM Sidhi Program, which is not appropriate for the general population, and arguably inadequate for TBs. The current leadership is not much better; they sometimes foolishly wear gold crowns and white robes and quote fluently in Sanskrit (mood-making), they are still running unrealistic programs of all kinds, such as astrology, expensive cancer cures that do not work, and a careless Quiet Time program that allowed itself to be sued in Chicago for lack of separation of church and state. Yes, I could talk about the good old days, about Jerry Jarvis, the skin boys, the World Plan, SCI and Nobel Prize winners, but these things are in the past and I'm far more interested in improving the world today. If I could have anything I could wish for, it would be to find a humble but advanced volunteer to mentor to take my place in teaching effortless transcending before I die. But so far, each ex-TM teacher who has contacted me to volunteer has dropped out when they found there was no money to be made. I will visit TheCorner as you suggested, thanks. This group seems to be full of spam now.I figure it like this, David - if anyone reads and responds to my messages they must have less to do than I do. YMMV. I've been posting to this group since 1998 when it was USENET. This list has always been susceptible to spam of one sort or another. The political faction was started by Judy during the presidential election with John Kerry. YMMV. So far as I can tell I'm the only informant still posting about meditation and TM - most of the others are probably dead by now, or have gone over to Facebook or TikTok to post cartoons or dog snapshots of their pets. Nobody wants to talk about yogic flying or levitation anymore. Go figure. |

Thank you for the logs posting; interesting. Remember WillyTex? John Manning? I remember Judy and would love to talk with her. I tried to join TheCorner but keep getting the message "Your subscription has not yet been approved." I guess I'd have to be lucky to find people with any positive feelings at all about TM these days.

Can't find this at .You must be joining these groups at Google.com - key in Google Groups on Google. Look for alt.meditation.transcendental. Be advised: some of these informants are obviously slightly prone to suggestion and have been known to make claims of having witnessed events of a paranormal nature, such as human levitation. Apparently one individual once rented a helicopter in order to fly up above a large group of Yogic Flyers to pass out flyers at a Utopia Event at MUM to promote an alternative meditation technique. Some of the members of the old discussion group used to really enjoy unmasking the Zebra. YMMV. |
Sorry Sal - I don't like to boot off folks other than something egregious. I have, in the past, requested Uncle Richard to restrain himself. I also have been busy and haven't been paying too much attention, and I should. If most agree we certainly can remove him from the group, I will send a poll On Mon, Sep 27, 2021 at 12:50 PM, Sal Sunshine wrote:

开云体育Well I don’t believe in booting someone except for the most egregious stufff, threatening or things like that, so I voted no. ?Still, he IS guilty of excessive spamming,and is already responsible for at least one person leaving, Ann, and maybe Judy as well. ?So maybe split the difference and give a one-month suspension and maybe he’ll learn. I doubt it, but IMO it’s still worth a try.Sal On Sep 28, 2021, at 1:44 PM, RC <chivukula.ravi@...> wrote:

I guess you misunderstood my posting. I have no questions about TM, etc. I already know the answers to all questions I have ever had about spirituality or TM. I am not here to find out any secrets because I already know most of them, and they are all simple and natural, not esoteric. I visited here to see if any long-time meditators are still around in the woodwork and might want to chat. I'm neither a true believer nor rabidly anti-TM. I try to be an easy-going guy.

开云体育? ??So?apparently they’re now waiting for you with bated breath… well, some are anyway. From Barry Wright:? Perhaps Rick should interview him on BATGAP, I'm sure he's ready to take up Guru duties and lead the rest of us to the Promised Land.? If he doesn't, there's a new poster over in Ravi-FFL-land who probably will. He seems to be so desperate to find a "humble yet advanced volunteer" to follow him that he's probably applied to join The Corner. My vote would be no. One delusional "I'm smarter than everyone else in the world" member is enough. :-)? Maybe this fellow has managed to avoid all those pitfalls, and is basically an OK guy. I wouldn't mind hearing some of his "stories from the trenches" of what it's like to teach an obvious "borrowing" of TM, and what the "official" TMO thinks of that and what they do about it.? Besides, and with BATGAP in mind, I'd love to hear whether he or any of his students have had awakening experiences. Now *that*, if it happened within an officially Off The Program splinter group, would really fuck with the TMO.? :-) And from M Jackson, possibly the weirdest of the group, really quite an accomplishment. As to David Spector, I don't particularly like him - I had words with him online nine years ago about TM study that was pulled only 11minutes before it was to be published . Larry Husten talked about it on his blog CardioBrief and that's were me and David clashed. He basically touts Marshy as a great guy who just didn't really have to right tools in place to enlighten the world.? Actually the reason I didn't before Barry posted here about him was I thought it might be Willy Tex trying to sneak back in... (Lol!) Have fun.
