Happy July 4th everyone!
So sad.? The number of guns in this country is mind boggling.? And more now, I'm sure.? It's overwhelming.? And this Congress can't even ban war weapons.? Where background checks are required, the FBI has 3 days to do it.? Ridiculous.? Of course, they can't meet this requirement.? ?
"While calculating the number of guns in private hands around the world is difficult, figures from the Small Arms Survey - a Swiss-based leading research project - estimate that there were 390 million guns in circulation in 2018." Shinzo Abe was killed with a homemade weapon by an individual.? That is a correct statement.? They had 10 incidents involving firearms in 2021.? Ten!? ?Access obviously matters.? This country's reliance on the statement that it's always an "individual" problem appeals to our national aversion to truth.? I am continually amazed at how these myth's persist in the face of common sense.? ? -- Em |
Franklin said those who willingly give up liberty for a little temporary security deserve neither. Well, I wonder what he would say if he knew we’re well along in the process of giving up both. Our rights are disappearing daily while our physical safety is increasingly more and more threatened. These are all political choices that could be rectified, Biden could do a lot with executive orders. It’s a political calculation he’s making not to.

Uh huh ??♀? ? It would be funny if the consequences weren’t so real, and in many cases so deadly.Such a great picture!? Biden has done a lot!? I won't list it all out.? He inherited a national health nightmare, an attempted violent coup, millions of delusional voters who thought and think the election was stolen, a foreign policy nightmare, an economic nightmare, a border nightmare, a radical right-wing Supreme Court, an impossible and hostile Congress, a DOJ in tatters, FOX News and its satellites, a soon-to-be war in Ukraine with Putin, and the list goes on and on.? He brought hope and a win against the most dangerous sociopath this country has ever seen in political power.? He brought decades of experience, national and foreign policy-wise, and a willingness to get up every day and sacrifice his golden years for the good of the country.? Now,? 2 years in,?we're whining and attacking and abdicating because he, one man, hasn't fixed all our boo-boos.? I think it's pathetic.? His beliefs are what saved our democracy from certain death under Rump and his flunkies.? We've got a far more competent cabinet now, that's for certain.? People aren't perfect.? We need to stop expecting our leaders to be saviors and nights in shining armor.? We need to support Biden and his agenda which in many cases is our agenda, for the good of our party, for unity against the anti-democracy movement.? We need to take the high road, come together, and make sure we take Congress in the mid-terms and the white house in 2024.? We need to be the party of positivity.? Hope sells.? Carnage doesn't.? Voting matters.? ?? I don't think he should run again.? He's a transitional president--who stepped us a few steps back from the cliff edge.? I don't think he'll be our next candidate even if he does run.? I don't think Kamala Harris can win either.? I'm all for big change.? ? ?? ? -- Em |
Where the hell is our gratitude, that's what I want to know.? He absolutely should have run and the votes for him prove that. Boy were we happy when Rump lost.? Who do you think could have beaten him?? Bernie?? Nope.? Bernie lost fair and square.? "Democratic inaction?"? I don't think so.? You seem to think he can wave a wand and make it all happen - magical thinking.??

I agree he brought hope and decades of experience, and that was what he ran on. But whether or not it’s decades of experience that will serve the country well is the question, he was out of office four years when he ran and it shows. He’s still caught in some kind of bipartisanship dream that has little bearing in the present. The GOP and SCOTUS is out to eat him alive and he’s basically asking what place settings they want to use. He’s got a ton of power! Use it! Forgive student debt! EXPAND THE DAMN COURT. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES COZY UP TO SA, DO WHAT HE CAN TO END OUR DEPENDENCE ON OIL, ESPECIALLY FOREIGN OIL. Find out what happened to Kashoggi! Why the hell is DeJoy still there? End the filibuster! Use whatever leverage he has…and he has a lot… to force Manchin and Sinema to honor their offices. The problem is nobody’s afraid of him, he’s just good old Uncle Joe that people think of fondly and then no doubt laugh at.

If the shoe were on the other foot do you think for a moment McConnell would have let hostile employees like DeJoy stay? He did what he did with the SCOTUS seat because he had the pwer and used it. Why don’t the Democrats ever use the power they have?? It makes no sense, unless of course something more is going on than the public is privvy to. Excuse, we have the majority in the Senate.
Another excuse, see above.
Where did I say to emulate McConnell? ?I said use the power they have. ?Or is using ANY power now “emulating McConnell?” ?If so we are well and truly f*cked, and you just fell for one of the GOP’s most obvious tricks.
Um no, they were for the most part all fine with it up until January 6. ? Gun violence? ?Check. Rights trampled right and left? ?Check. Immigrants demonized? Check. Infrastructure crumbling? ?Check. Kids ripped away from their parents? Check. Vast amounts of kids living in poverty ?and going to bed hungry? ?Check. Lol, yeah sure. ?You’re dreaming if you think the Dems refrain from that out of integrity. If they had any, the left and the working class wouldn’t be constantly demonized, significant gun control would have been enacted long ago, women’s rights wouldn’t now be in the process of being trampled and Bernie would be president.?
And that also includes those states that even right now are doing all they can to disenfranchise voters and make it as difficult as possible to vote I take it. So basically the plan is… blame everyone, especially on the left. ?Blame Manchin and Sinema. ?Especially if we lose the midterms. Got it. I got news, VOTE HARDER ain’t cuttin’ it. ?
