Re: Humorous read on the Georgia GOP'ers
Well, I hear you. ?We live in two different worlds. ?We need to figure out how to penetrate their world and fight back in language they understand. ?Democrats throwing money at extreme right candidates with the idea that they will be easier to beat is the dumbest idea ever. ?With election deniers posed to win states and Secretary of State positions, and with the gerrymandering, it's practically a lost cause. ?
Biden stole several important House members for his Administration, narrowing the margin. ?I always thought this was a really short-sighted and stupid move. ?Like Obama, he thought he could "work with" the Republicans in Congress. ?Delusional. ? What is driving me crazy is that the Republican "message" of "crime" and "economy" is somehow driving the decisions of voters. "Crime?" ?Well, yes, much higher in red states that voted for Trump, it appears. ?Duh, what have the Republican's done in their states to reduce crime? ?Nada. ?So vote them in again! ?R's have no platform and no policies except a plan to line their own pockets and take down democracy. ? Do these voters think that an authoritarian government is going to reduce crime? ?Economy? ?People have no idea how gas prices are set. No idea what OPEC even is. ?No idea how the oil companies influence gas prices. ?Dumb and dumber. ?Blame Biden! ?Do they forget where Trump left us? ?With thousands dying and the economy completely in shambles? With NATO in crisis - they don't even know what NATO is. ?The economy is rebounding and job gains continue. ?It takes time. ?Again, they think electing anti-democrats is the answer? With no platform except tax cuts to the rich? ?To think we would lose our democracy and rights based on people voting on the buzzwords "crime" and "gas prices." Like Pavlov's dogs, completely reactive. ? Democrats have no idea how to fight this problem is the bottom line. By the time they realize they could lose and make some last minute whimpers, it's way, way, too late. ?They need to be doing rally's and pounding their message constantly and consistently and refuting the nonsense in loud terms. They don't understand that the brains of half of our citizens have been hijacked and their prefrontal cortex is no longer in charge. ? Anyhow, I'm still hoping against hope that we'll keep both Houses. ? -- Em |

How Authoritarians Come To Power
开云体育From Kerry at the Smirking Chimp:"Ever wonder how authoritarian, totalitarian, or fascist systems of government come to power?? Here's a hint... it's not through persuasion.? Sure, they develop all kinds of disinformation, disseminated by various propaganda outlets along the way, but convincing the most people that theirs is the way to go is not how they get to where they are going.? They always - 100% of the time - use violence and intimidation as the primary means of securing, and then holding, that power.? That's how authoritarianism/fascism works. That's how it's designed to work. It can't work any other way.? It's something to ponder, especially if you're one who would prefer not to live under that kind of system, because it's too late once they take control to do anything about it. That's why it's important to identify, early on, who they are and what they are up to.? So how does one recognize a burgeoning authoritarian or fascist movement?? You might want to check to see if 'widespread disinformation' is occurring, and if 'violence and intimidation' appear to be a driving force.? If so, you've likely spotted one.? Right now 30-35% of the Republican Party outright desires a theocratic form of fascism over our current system of government.? That's not just an opinion, and it's not hyperbole. Just ask them exactly what they want, and pay attention to what they say.? Yes, you'll hear words like 'constitution' and 'freedom' and 'patriot', but these are just sounds they make to distract and provide cover. They want a theocratic form of fascism, by its very definition.? And if you're not on board with that, yet find yourself caught up in it, for whatever reason... please try to extricate yourself, as millions of others have.? Get out of that 'information/propaganda' silo, clear your mind, and employ your own powers of discernment.? Because we need a healthy debate of contrasting opinion in this country, absent the disinformation, violence, and intimidation.? That's the only way a democratic society works. That's how it's designed to work.? It can't work any other way." PSal |

Has it occurred to you that assigning structural racism as the sole cause of all problems in the black community, is actually disempowering to black people.? You seem to be saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, that black people have no free will.? They have been railroaded by this structural racism such that have lost any ability to live a normal life, to improve themselves, to make good decisions.? You are offering to be their savior by instituting reforms, or reparations, that will mostly consist of money grants, instead of doing the heavy lifting of educating and energizing young black people in a way that allows them to see a way of living different than the negative aspects of their community.
