I received a call today from the contractor. They're requesting a final walk-through with us to make sure construction is to our satisfaction. After that we can request mail to be delivered there. You'll be really nice if the postmaster they provide those partial boxes. Who did the postmaster say that to? And how do we get them to follow through on that?

Jimmy, I reported that the Postmaster said he
would give us
two parcel lockers nearly two months ago (Nov 5) in an email
with the subject “Schedule
for Mailboxes?”. In that same email I volunteered to get all the
paperwork done
for the mailboxes that week, but got no response. If there were
no plans for
additional parcel lockers on the slab, there may not now be
room. I will be
happy to talk to the Postmaster again and do the paperwork, if
I’m authorized to
do it.

We seem to be at a standstill not knowing
what the contractor’s
responsibilities are. These are my suggestions.
(1) If the Road District has agreed to pay
the contractor to
do all the paperwork for the mailboxes, then he should do the
paperwork and
also deal with the postmaster regarding the two additional
parcel lockers. But
if that was his responsibility, I’m surprised he hasn’t already
done it. It
could/should have been done months ago.
(2) If it’s not in the agreement for him to
do the remaining
paperwork, I would be against the District paying him more to do
it. I’m
willing to do it, or the Board could do it.
(3) If am authorized to do the remaining
paperwork, then when
I meet with the Postmaster to give him the paperwork, I’ll
discuss the promised
parcel lockers. I don’t want to deal piecemeal with the
Postmaster. He’s a busy
guy.
I’m not lobbying to do anything. The Board
has full responsibility
for the mailbox project, and they will choose who does what,
when. If it’s in
the agreement for the contractor to do the paperwork, that’s
great. I’m just
interested in moving the mailbox project forward as quickly and
inexpensively
as possible.
Of course, the if the community saw the
agreement with the
contractor, we would all be better informed.
