Subject: [FT-857] Internal Tuner Proposal

I have an FT-857D and an FT-897. I have been using the FT-857 for portable operation and use an external ATU-100 tuner when required.
?
?I do miss an internal tuner so I an thinking of constructing and mounting a ATU-100 board in the bottom battery compartment of the FT-897. Here is a link to the ATU-100 tuner kit:

?
Has anyone tried installing a tuner such as this one? that compartment? I use external LiFePO4 batteries so the internal batteries have been removed (they stopped holding a charge years ago).
?
Looking forward to the warmer weather to operate portable.
