I have a Heil Traveler that I used with my ICOM-706 (since sold). Worked fine there, but made up a wiring adapter for the FT857 but no TX audio. Everything else fine including RX audio, PTT, up and down. The only thing I can imagine is that the mic element needs power to run thats not being supplied. Yeah, I know I could just buy a HSTA-YM adapter but I dont want to buy it just to troubleshoot and there is some satisfaction in making my own. Should I be doing something with that 5V sitting on pin 6 of the FT857 RJ45 connector?
