Are you using new unite or are these used 2nd units? Maybe you have bad transceivers.

Try transmitting at lower power and see if it has any problems. If it doesn't then check the voltage at the DC connector going into the radio and make sure you are getting excessive Voltage drop under load. Your symptoms matches what my FT950 which is only rate at -10% (compared to the -15% your rated for) does when I exceed 40W on battery.

Don,?
This is a classical low voltage symptom. Verify voltage at the rig with key down. Start with the power supply connection and work you way back to the rig.? Remove in line fuses, don't just look at the fuses, remove and verify no corrosion on either end (emory paper). As for power poles, if these was assembled by soldering the electrical contacts to the feed wire then the tensile strength likely has been destroyed, hence poor contact.? PPs are designed to be crimped by crimper specific to the PP - NOT soldered.? Regards, Phil / K4PO? |

From: Ben N0WER <mailto:cq@...?subject=Re:%20FT857D%20replaced%20with%20a%20891>Ben That would not have helped him in this case. What I believe he is saying is that the crimp on conductor tongue was not pushed in far enough for the tip to be beyond the end of it's lift spring. With the tongue not locked in place the tongue would move back when the other connectors tongue struck it instead of them sliding up over each other and providing a large area of contact. -- Tom Horne W3TDH |
Yes that was the issue. The positive was not locked in to the spring clip.
