CW on FM

 

I was wondering if I could send CW on 2M using my straight key? I have an 857D
 

The radio supports it.

Yes, you can. That is one reason why the FT-8XX radios are amazing. They are truly all band ALL mode.

One may use an MFJ ¡°Jim Handy¡± accessory to send what sounds like CW on 2 mtrs FM. I¡¯ve done it for years to teach CW on FM analog repeaters.

Well?nearly?all band - they don't cover the UK 4m (70MHz) band, nor I believe the USA 220MHz band.

Yes, all modes on all bands.? 2M and 70Cms have a differing PA, and the power reduction on the extra little power lead cable works as well.
