FT857 pc programming issue

I picked up a used ft857, trying to program with pc but the radio fails when reading the radio.
I have programmed dozens of 857’s over the years so it’s not a setup issue.
I remember sometime back about a minor hardware failure which caused this problem
Hoping someone can help me with this
thanks

Checked all of that...software is independent of baud rate...tried 3 different cabled.

I think it is the smd f1001 fuse
Just found some info on this and remember this issue years ago
Thanks
Jack

1. Baud rate of radio....as in the SW expects one Baud rate and you have another on the radio?
2. older programming cable. I had this happen recently.
3. What software are you using...this can also change what might be causing the issue.

I have confirmed the problem is blown smd 3a fuse F1001
supplies 13.8v to CAT port pin 1
for a smd pretty easy to replace with a micro fuse

I had a similar issue in my 857, replaced it with a PICA fuse as there was nowhere to get an SMD fuse.

One thing I remember about Chirp is that, when the window to choose the radio comes up, there are a couple choices for the FT857. The first one I picked didn't work, so I tried the other one and it worked.

Hello Zack;
? ? ? I have had the same Experience. ?I use the “Chirp” Non-US Program window for FT-857 to Send/Receive information to the Radio. ?I works very well for Program the Yaesu FT-957 Radio. ?I also use the RT Systems “ADMS-4B-US”. ?You can use it on Windows orMAC. ?I use it on Both of my Mac and Window.

Thank You

Yes, I believe that was the setting that worked. I found it odd, because I thought it was a US version, but whatever works!

Quite some time ago, a US ham had bargain priced FT-857's for sale, they were several hundred dollars cheaper than any of the discount stores had them priced at.

What the bargain hunters didn't realize till too late was that they had just purchased the FT-857 designated for sale to Japanese Novice hams, so the rig had restricted frequency range and only 10watts o/p.

Word got around very, very quickly.
