开云体育I ran mine in my truck in Florida for over 10 years before I started seeing the zebra lines. In the summer, the inside temps in the truck could easily reach 120 degrees. 73, --Hank KB4MTO / TA5ZC ---

开云体育I have had my FT-857D from 2011. It started getting the tiger strips last winter. It is in my car all year in Chicago weather. Bruce wd9ghk |
Link to where to purchase the replacement panel please? 开云体育This is where I got mine: With the discount code it was less than $140 including shipping and currency conversion. ?About 10 days from order to arrival, in California. ? Seems like a good deal. ?I haven’t installed it yet, so maybe it’s the British left-handed version or something. :) ? -Les W6VN

开云体育I got the part from Radioworld today. It was ordered on the 14. They sent it UPS in a box that would hold a suit. Had a little trouble installing it. Hardest part was de soldering the plug. In order to put the new part back in the case you have to wriggle it a bit. Seems to work OK now. Bruce wd9ghk |
开云体育Hi Geoff, In addition to whatever Eric might respond, I’ve just purchased one from Andrews Communications in Greystanes. $199 delivered next day.? I was considering one from Radioworld in the UK but finding it locally at a lower delivered price swayed my decision.? Mark VK2MOH On 20 May 2020, at 12:34, VK3SQ - Geoff <vk3sq@...> wrote:

开云体育Hi Geoff, ? I think I got it from a mob in Melbourne who repair and supply parts for the radios. ? Ross at Strictly Ham put me onto them and the guy he put me onto was Guy, but I don’t remember the name of the company. ? OK, disregard the above, I just found the invoice. ? JNB Electronics P/L 42 Latitude Blvd Thomastown Vic 3074 03 9465 9399 and ask for Guy ? ? Part number for the panel is CS2140401 FT857 Panel Unit ? Cost when I got mine in March 2016 was $165 + GST. ? 73….Eric VK2VE ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of VK3SQ - Geoff - vk3sq at wia.org.au

I ordered from Radio World. Excellent customer service and received quickly to Virginia (by way of CA for customs inspection). Yes, desoldering the 4-pin connection was troublesome - I am not very good at soldering/desoldering. I went ahead and ordered replacement 4-pin connectors and the Pot/PC board assembly from Yaesu (pictured). The 4-Pin connector connects from the replacement board to the AF/Squelch Pot assembly. The pot assembly is easily removed from the face-plate with the typical knob retaining nut. Here are the Yaesu part numbers:
Description? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Item ID? ? ?? ? ? ?Notes Wire Assembly AH007M? ? ? ? ? ? T9207024? ? ? ? 4-pin wire assembly with connectors VR-UNIT? ? ? ? ? AH007M00? ? ? ? CS2592101? ? ? AF/Squelch Pot with integrated PC board? Yes, I ordered several spares knowing how bad I am at soldering...but it went very well.? In this view - the ground connection is all the way to the right and is noted by a line next to it. Likewise, on the replacement screen board - the same - ground noted by a line. I connected with the yellow going to the ground connections. If you look closely at the attached parts diagram - there is also a foam "Sponge Rubber" border that goes between the screen and the case - I ordered that too and used alcohol to remove the old adhesive from the window. The parts were inexpensive and the entire transaction was conducted via email with b.velarde@... I 'killed her with kindness' and received relatively prompt replies and responses - but not much in the way of friendly dialog! No complaints! With these replacement components - the screen replacement is super easy! I agree - seating the display board assembly back into the panel requires a bit of finesse but take it slowly and it will snap/pop into place. The 2 screws will properly seat the board and ensure the Select pot/knob works properly. Hope this was helpful, 73, Howard, WZ4K ![]()
