FT-857D Dig output 9.2 Volt

Hi all,?

I moved my setup few weeks ago.

Now, when I try to connect via winlink and using signalink usb, my rig is going from 13.8V to 9.1V? in 7093 Digital( tuning or connection ). The rest 10 or 14 Mgx

I'm using the same power supply I was using few weeks ago.? Could it be the antenna?? It's a Chameleon Vertical HF good till 350watts

I have seen that a few times using a JetStream 45 Amp PSU.? I have installed this little guy inline that allows me to monitor VDC and Amps.?

You can find these things on Amazon for around $15 and I find them accurate enough for me.? I put a pair PowerPole connectors on the thing and makes it easy to move between different rigs if I want.? Most of my HF rigs have built in power and amp draw built in but it's still a worthwhile tool to have.

?

When I see a voltage or amp drop not seen on other radios connected to the PSU I will clean the fuses for suspect rig and check for a loose Man PSU connection to my PowerPole hub.

?

After I do that she will keep her voltage and amp draw where I usually find it.

I'm looking for the same issue I think... 50w fm on 2 I drop from 14.4 to 12 flat ...?
Iv been told that it's the power plug going into the radio ... but I have not tried to check yet or try some pro-gold iv got in the connector ...
With I had a IR monitor ... display for differential heat to try to located this voltage drop --- id think it would create some heat.

i use one of these and find it handy. Keep in mind the current sense is in the negative side so the current reading may be in error if the power supply negative side is attached chassis ground. For example my power supply negative is connected to ground and current reads 50 percent since current also returning through ground. Reads correctly if power negative is isolatedor battery is usedas a power source.

Thanks,

I will verify and have a 2nd psu.? I will test later this w-end.? ?weird it's only on 40m so far.

Check voltage at PSU and then at radio with multi-meter.

You may have a volt drop issue, bad connection or undersized cable.

Other wise a PSU issue under load, if the problem is measured there.

Stef,
By "moved my setup", do you mean you moved your rig around in the same area, moved everything including antennas, or what? You might try 40 metere into a dummy load to see if something you did is now causing you RFI.

moved the radio, psu, tuner, meter about 8'...? I wonder if the antenna as an issue or the radio having output issue...? I will try with a DLoad this w-end.

until then, RMS VA2XMP is down.
