FT-857 Jumpers
Pitman-san,
Thanks for your comments. The webpage introduces MARS on the US model. What I want is to DeMOD MARS and set up a JA model. I found some photos of JA 857 jumpers talking about 7MHz FREQ extension (TX on 7.100-7.200). But, for some reasons, their default jumpers are different from one to the other. Maybe it is caused by the hardware release year so I would like to make sure which jumper affects to which FREQ on TX/RX or both. TU 73, // HIRO, JJ1FXF |
Assuming the attachment makes it through this jumper sheet should give you a good idea how to start. From my understanding the JA radio have a different ROM chip so you won't be able to make it 100% JA mode.

It looks like groups may have resized the image so here is a direct link to it. Let me know if this better. Leonard K. Pennock AD7AS Those who walk bravely through life, unafraid of loss or failure, find that they very rarely lose or fail. On 1/26/24 7:00 AM, Tony VA7TF, VE7ACF wrote:

Phil-san,
Yes, after a while I found the chart said it was for FT-897. However, it helped me to consider how the jumpers may affect to the FREQs on HF+50, 144 and 430 with VFO steps and repeater offsets. I have found an INFO on the net which says “Yaesu FT-857 Original Jumper Settings” which some of you have known already. It also says “Radio Type (Look on the Original Box)” that I didn’t understand at first glance. But when I look at my packing box of FT-857, the small labeling seal says “TYP:A2” under the “DST:USA”. However, some photos of original jumpers I found on the net were not compatible with any of listed jumper settings. :( More confusions. hihi BTW, my 2 cents, it seems J1004 and J1005 are just spares for the future use and currently all the models of FT-857 may leave them as open. Still considering how I can ReMOD those jumpers for JA compliance. TU 73, // HIRO, JJ1FXF |
