Thanks All,

Got some time to play with it today.

I searched the manual and found under Mobile Station Grounding:

Although satisfactory grounding in most installations will be achieved via the DC cable¡¯s
negative lead and the antenna system¡¯s coaxial cable shield, it is often recommended that
you provide a direct ground connection to the vehicle chassis at the mounting location of
the transceiver (installation using the MMB-82 Mounting Bracket will accomplish this, if
the MMB-82 itself is mounted to the vehicle¡¯s chassis). Due to unexpected resonances
which may naturally occur in any location, improper communication system performance
may result from insufficient grounding. These symptoms may include:
RF feedback (resulting in distortion on your transmitted signal);

  • Unintended frequency change;
  • Blinking or blanking of the frequency display;
  • Noise pickup; and/or
  • Loss of memory.

Which might explain the display.

Disconnected everything for 24 hours. Hooked up power and head turned on still flashing.

Another Factory reset, power off power on. 10 seconds later stopped flashing still full S meter.

Change bands, Only band the any sound comes out is FM Broadcast.... Could it be stuck on TX even with the microphone disconnected?

Any ideas?

I would look at all things power supply-related. ...but it's odd this cropped up when you turned your engine off and now won't go away. How is your radio wired to your battery? Should be a straight run both pos and neg but in a modern vehicle you should not connect the neg directly to the battery because of battery monitoring modules? - rather the neg should be connected as close to the battery as possble but not directly. Both pos and neg should be fused. If you're using the automotive AGC blade-type fuses - these frequently become oxidized and need to be cleaned or replaced - definitely check those if you use them as they can present an under-voltage condition.

I would also check your remote head cable first. Can you mount the head on the radio and use the short head cable for that purpose - to eliminate the long cable as a possible cause? I see you already did the full reset.
